Micro-transactions
“Well, I’m basically enjoying Oblivion, but I don’t know, somethings missing…oh, I know, my imaginary horse doesn’t have any armor. Here’s $5 for Microsoft, and…there, that’s perfect. Now I can really enjoy this game - except, hum, I wonder what other great stuff I can buy for my virtual pet. Like a hat & tie, that would be sweet.” If this sounds like a conversation you have had with yourself, here are some more ideas for DLC ( that’s down-loadable content ,for those of you who insist on knowing what things mean ) that companies will enjoy charging you for:
- Anti-aliasing
- Extra button functions ( like “menu” & “options”)
- Enhanced color ( i.e., color )
- Enhanced sound ( “Enjoy actual music - in the game!”)
- Adult content ( just like TV! )
- Game world money
- Instructions
And that’s really just the beginning! Think of the possibilities to completely piss you off just waiting around the corner. It’s almost like someone came by the Microsoft & Sony HQs & said, “Hey, we’re giving out tons of money you don’t deserve in exchange for your business ethics - it’s win/win!”
