Even More Awesome Stuff On Geek

I just had an email “conference” with the legendary “site admin”, stueynet himself, & while it’s true that he doesn’t actually read anything on the site, he does look at the site from time to time & most importantly works on the site to the benefit of us all - “all” being the hypothetical geek reader too shy to sign up, but still theoretically out there. Seriously, dude ( or gal - it’s possible ), sign up. Anyways, thanks to all this hard work Geek continues to improve visually, & hopefully soon real writers, artists & salaries will follow to improve the site content - & you’ll be here. Right on the ground floor of awesomeness.

Anyways, getting back to the usual nonsense, two new demos appeared today ( at least I saw them today ) on Xbox Live - Conan & F.E.A.R. files ( I think that’s the right name; I could just open up another window & check but - nah. ). The Conan demo was uninspired but kind of fun ( nice camera, decent controls, acceptable graphics ), but the F.E.A.R. demo was a blast. The graphics seem to have taken a hit since the original game, but the gameplay is unparalleled FPS fun. The level design of this series has often taken criticism, & yes it’s the same office/warehouse corridors you’ve seen before, but they create a great environment for the kind of action the game excels at, so why not? And the new minigun is amazing - all the weapons have a great, almost tactile quality to them. Also seen, the true follow-up to F.E.A.R., Project Origin, has an astounding walkthrough video on IGN - you must check this out.

Animal Crossing update - not much to report from Delphi; the Acorn Festival is in full swing, a boring character who appeared to be a copy of one of the already present town inmates got the message & moved out ( good riddance ), I finally got my pet octopus & the most repulsive resident yet moved in just north of me ( if I had to guess I’d say it was an aardvark ). Everyday at the town tuck-shop I check for a flamethrower, but still no luck. Also, I think one of the male characters made a pass at my male character - what the hell, Nintendo? There were little love hearts & everything. Not that the romantic attention of cartoon animal “girls” is any great shakes either.

That’s about it , I continue to play Phantom Hourglass ( I’m still enjoying it ), & will get back to Halo 3 on Heroic hopefully tomorrow after 3o Rock ( which better be improved over the season opener ). Also, amazingly, didn’t buy Orange Box yet - sorry I misled you.

Happy Marios.
