DLC Stupidity - Arkadian Warriors Review ( XBLA )
Guess who paid 800 Microsoft points for Arkadian Warriors - if you guessed me, you’d be right. It’s not that this is a terrible game ( it’s merely average ), it’s more that it was just so obviously not a smart purchase. Why, oh why does stupidity stalk my poor little life, ruining every moment & draining my paltry bank account of the small amount of cash it contains?
There’s a demo of the first level of the game on Live, & it’s definitely fun, but the elements which keep this from being a valid time waster are obvious here, namely: It’s a series of fetch quests & there are limited character classes. Once you actually buy the game it also becomes obvious that there’s no character or skill customization, the bosses are beyond easy to defeat & there are very few items to be obtained ( one of the main draws of this type of game ).
So why did I buy this game? Beyond the fact that I am somewhat stupid ( read other “articles” on this site if you need confirmation ), Arkadian Warriors does a lot right - it’s fun to play, the graphics are competent in a Nickelodeon meets anime kind of way, everything in the dungeons is breakable ( nice ), & I guess most importantly it’s the Diablo type game I can play on my 360.
Which gets to the main point of this review - it’s really not that this is a bad game, it’s fine ( it’s just not worth 800 points ), but I bought it to fill a void that Diablo 3 ( Hellgate doesn’t count ) should be filling. Where the hell is this game, Blizzard? You could at the very least put Diablo 1 on XBLA to tide us over, assuming you can find your way to your workstations through the giant piles of money which undoubtedly fill your offices.
Happy Marios.
