About Some Games I Sold

Yesterday I went down to my local videogame store ( the excellent Gamecenter, at the corner of Yonge & Charles in downtown T.O. ) & sold a bunch of games, which I’m now going to tell you about instead of writing a real article:

The Orange Box ( 360 ) - What the fuck, Wishbane - didn’t you tell us all how great this game was? Well, yes, it is a great game, but I’m a purist when it comes to my electronic entertainment. The Orange Box may be the best value for money in the history of gaming, with five ( more or less ) distinct games included, but what I wanted was a shooter - & honestly, Half Life is more of a 3D adventure game with FPS elements than an actual FPS. F.E.A.R remains my shooter of choice on the 360, which explains my next trade-in:

Call of Duty 4 ( 360 ) - This really is a great game, a definite game of the year candidate, but two things held it back for me: 1, the “me too” stealth level which seems to appear in every game theses days, & 2, the deliberate pacing, which constantly forced me ahead for the sake of a more cinematic feel instead of letting me move & explore at my pace. Also, I prefer the “me against the world” approach to the FPS - it’s empowering or something.

Some Game I’ve Already Forgotten ( 360 ) - Yes, one day later & I can’t remember what it was. Need I say more?

Animal Crossing ( DS ) - A game clearly designed for infants, which I bought & played ( as loyal readers will remember ) for some time. Finally I had some kind of reverse epiphany & stopped playing it thank the Gods.

Bleach ( DS ) - Another game I raved about, which ( again ) really is an excellent game, but after a while I found the fighting system a little too busy & also realized I’m probably done playing 2D fighters.

Tiger Woods Golf ( DS ) - I never liked this game for one moment & only mention it here to reinforce in your minds how woefully stupid I am when it comes to my purchases.

Orcs & Elves ( DS ) - A good game ( of it’s carbon-dated type ) which was never fun for even a second - as previously mentioned ( somewhere on this site ) I just play these games for fun.

And there you have it, the unfortunate legacy of stupidity & waste which dogs my every waking step illustrated once again - still, now I have a credit ( 120 bucks! ) to buy Circle of Doom & the Prima guide for it, with money left over to buy an arcade stick ( if such a thing ever makes it up to Canada ).
