Played carcassonne, takenoko, anima, and tried to play faceEater.
quick side note, will have another crappy contest up soon I think. FaceEater will either be a contest prize of out in a trade soon. I'm sure its fun if you get the rules right, it just seemed to over whelm us and now we all have a bad taste for it.
I'm really impressed with how deep Anima the card game is for being just a card game. It plays well and has a pretty decent story and feels just like a final fantasy type game. Only complaints I have are the text on the cards is pretty small and the art work seems to dark. I haven't seen the revised edition so that all might be fixed by now.
I hope to get some figures and maybe play the tactics version of it soon. It has a RPG set of rules too, but my days of role playing are limited to video games now.
Speaking of... Xenoblade Chronicles is pretty tight. Not much I can really report on it. But I like it a lot.
Still loving Takenoko. But the rules for panda movement in order to eat are really lame, and the way rain works is freaking stupid. The rain might as well just be a gardener movement option and just take away the AOE he has.

So I finished Assassin's creed revelations, played one match online (yeah what a waste of a code i know, but i FUCKING OWNED during that match)
Can't say very much of the story was clearer. I mean a good bit was explained, but just didn't feel right. I'm not going to get the DLC, but I managed to see/hear the one I wanted. They talked about the girl, lucy? That was unexpected. Saw the animated film that wraps up Ezio. It was kind of sad, raised a few questions, and for a minute felt appropriate. Then I thought back to Altair and realized it wasn't appropriate at all. At least not to me. In case someone happens to be reading this that cares, I'm not letting out spoilers. If you want to know more about what i'm talking about feel free to ask and then i'll spoil away.
So my trades are coming in. Traded nightfall for Red November revised and traded my siege of the citadels for 51st state and Claustrophobia. Haven't even fully unpacked the last two. Oh then I went and traded a bunch of games and got Xenoblade for free basically. It is a bit weird seeing ps2 style graphics again after being wrapped up in arkham city and revelations but I believe there is a good game there. I've spent all of 45 mins with it and was drinking while I was doing that. Hope I remember the tutorials.
I'll most likely start looking to trade claustrophobia soon, followed by 51st state I guess. I think Red Nov can be played single player and that's kind of where I am now. I see my OLD gaming crew more than I used to. But space is super limited and I think we just do better with card games. Quicker set up and break down. And then for myself here at home I have plenty of space but no gamers. So 1 player games are my way. Might look into Gears of War soon. Shrug. I'm REALLY considering remaking my PNP warhammer quest set. I enjoyed it a lot, even though that game hates you and more or less punishes you for playing it.

So I beat arkham city. The last level is a big pain in the ass. It starts you off thinking you have a time limit so I felt rushed and died. over and over and over and over and over. Checked out you tube and lo and behold, you don't have a time limit. This helped me stop dying...no not really.
So I had read the ending in a wiki article because I honestly didn't think I would beat the last stage. It seemed 'Eh' when I read it and 'blah' when I actually saw it. There seems to be so build up for the story in the game, which I found out there was a comic book mini series intro to it. I can only guess that these comics are out of the normal "time line" / "world" / "series" because of how the game ends. Or else they will just pull some weak ass comic book "magic" and fix it all.
Actually it wasn't even blah. It was down right stupid. Thinking back on some things I saw towards the end, some of the shit just didn't make sense. Or maybe it did, who the hell knows?
Ok spoilers incoming as long as rant
WHY THE FLYING CRIEKY FUCK WAS HARLEY QUIN TIED UP? Oh I know, because talia stole the cure from her. But at some point...wouldn't Joker have been, hey, where is my bitch with my cure? instead of keeping tailia prisoner in order to bait batman out, shouldn't he have been like hey, you are here but my girl isn't? Yes I know he had a double and all that horse shit, but he was still in the picture and in control of all it. And yeah she dies, but really man...couldn't you have given her body back to her ninja groupies so they could laz pit her? and WHAT THE FUCK JOKER? He's holding your damn cure in his RIGHT ARM so which arm do you stab? THE RIGHT ONE!!! What the fuck? Oh and about that double. When batman does his cowl scan xray shit on joker's dead body at the beginning, shouldn't clay face's physiology look different? I'm pretty sure he has that dude's info on file.
And I know joker and batman have this fucked up love hate thing going on, which border lines on some serious enabler/lover issues. But fuck man. I know you "were going to give him the cure" but everyone else you beat the shit out of you damn sure made it seem like you were going to kill. Mr freeze you actually RIPPED HIS LIFE FORCE OUT and poured it on the ground. Penguin you just straight up left him with the guy that wanted to kill him. Two face...I don't even remember, that was at the beginning and I felt his role in this game was really lacking. Grundy...didn't he get his insides ripped out? Who else...who else... Two face, joker, penguin, mr freeze, grundy, clay face...wow was that it? Yes, i did ZERO side quests. Oh ras agul. He died, hard. But its ok right? Because he can go laz pit...EVEN THOUGH HE SAID HE WAS SCARED OF IT! Granted, he did shove a sword though his own body in an attempt to kill batman.
The game looks amazing. It has a good mix of beat up and stealth action and gadgets. given enough time to get used to it you can pull off some pretty wicked combos that look, sound, and feel cool. The story? No. Putting it in a "city" made it feel like grand theft batman. Now granted I say that about every sand box game. But this one really did have that feel. You even worked for different "bosses" at points in order to bring another one down.
So I know every batman (comic, movie, cartoon, video game) is a bit different as well as when a different artist or writer is involved. But one thing that KIND of feels universal (to me at least) is that he won't kill you, but he also doesn't have to save you. So why did he really give a shit about protocol 10? He's not the one pulling the trigger nor are the people dying asking him for help. Actually...never mind. He never did attack a helicopter shooting people. And I think he only went to stop strange in order to save himself and find out what was going on. Ok. Skip that. Guess he's ok with people dying if they are bad and he isn't doing it.
So while im on the "bitching about comic book heroes" wagon. Has anyone ever played hero clix? Mainly with hulk or super man? How the hell do their stats compare to... ANYONE? I know the game has to be marketable which means, commons and such that are no names, like GUARD and HYDRA LACKEY and THUG. But If I take equal points in THUG compared to say Hulk or Superman... Can I win? Aren't they BULLET PROOF? Maybe my understanding on the game is lacking. I played it once...like 8-10 years ago or something. Then again I guess the same question could be brought up about the justice league cartoon or something. Why the hell are super man and green lantern lowering their selves to the level of flash and batman. Yes I know they are all bad ass in their own way, just having damn near infinite power and toughness brings your "own way" of bad assery to a new level.

What is the first game you can remember playing?
Mine is memory. I remember playing it quite clear in kindergarten (Which would have been over 25 years ago). I still have my copy too. For some reason I find that insanely fun and I think I could still play it now and not be bored.
I remember games of checkers too. Which may actually be before the memory game memories. Somewhere in there hi ho cherrio came in. I LOATHED the little plastic trees and making the cherries stick to them. One bump and they all fell the fuck off or sometimes even when you went to remove one.
So Arkham city is about done I think. The load time after dying is REALLY about to set me off. The game states I'm 23% done. I'm guessing due to all the side quests and hidden riddler puzzles. Take a big fucking guess at what will remain UNDONE. As soon as this puppy shows me a game over, credits, thanks for playing...TRADE TIME!
Played all of 20 mins of chromehounds. I think this game was designed for multiplayer. To bad I just now got it (6 years later) and they took down their servers 2 years ago. It's kind of cool but the weapon cycling is crap to me and all in all it's just another mech game.
Bayonetta is my guilty pleasure. I freaking love this game. Its so over the top and silly with its combat. It really feels like a devil may cry clone a bit, but it's wonderful. The story isn't to bad either. Granted the way they make angels out to be weird evil looking things is kind of a weird spin, but hey, you are playing a bad guy after all.

Settle down, it really isn't that cool.
Ok. So I'm going to give a free retheme, custom, print and play, whatever-you-want-to-call-it copy of Carcassonne Dice!
Yes, that INSANELY horrid game!
Even comes with its own crappy printed out rules copy!
here's some "legal" jargon
I do not in any shape or form own any thing that even remotely looks like a copyright on this game. It all belongs to whoever actually made it and BGG also has nothing to do with it.
Contest is only for those in the USA. Sorry, but i REFUSE to spend more than 5.00 shipping this stupid ass game.
Do not expect much from this little gift/contest, it is not some master crafted work i have here.
TO ENTER
Just reply below. I'll count up everyone's name and then do a random pull. You may only enter ONCE. you may NOT buy more than one entry with gold or anything like that. There is a small number of people that have done something I consider really cool and they will get one extra entry if they enter.
I don't think i can just ask for thumbs as entries, seems like that is a BGG rule, so you HAVE to reply.
I'll do the pull for the winner on the 1st. Or at least stop counting entries. (I don't really expect that many)

So with the dissolution of my gaming group, which i have YET to find out why, i regrouped with my old crew. granted a 20 min drive turns into a two hour. but hey, the drama and fewer egg shells to walk on has its merits.
So we broke out the LUNCH MONEY!!!!! God i love this game. twisted, dark, silly, mental, and the game is kind of weird too. Beating people down with hammers is THE way to go. Big combos are sweet too, but facing two humiliations and a block back to back is a bitch. Lost. But it was fun
next came the settlers of catan. i mean why not right? the only shit i got to build was enough roads and houses to look like a question mark. as if to say, why the fuck are you even playing?
I think something may be amiss in this game. Stone and Brick are the fewest tiles but yet stone is used as much as wheat and wood. so why isn't brick and sheep the two lowers? why is stone so damn needed and has a less chance of popping up?
Lastly was a game of Anima SoO. Just learned it and we played with a bit of an exposed hand in some ways. This game is really...something. If you like Final Fantasy type games, or most good Japan RPGs. This is your card game. My only bitch is the art work is dark. Maybe better in the revised, I dunno. Good bit of text to read, but the cards are clear for the most part. And there are small sections that stand out so you know what you are looking for at a glance. It has a pretty decent PVP element to it too. It's long too. At least for us, even after we got the rules down it can just last a while.
From what i've seen though, the anima video game does not count as a good game.

so this isn't so much a gaming blog post as much as it is a question.
i got the go ahead from ocatvian to have some give away contests but the question is should i do it here, where very few people read (though more subs that i had thought)
or do i do one of those geek lists that all the kids are doing now days?
or do i just do a geek list auction?
i'll be ditching most of my games i believe, things have changed and i need to down size my belongings. lets just leave it at that.
what chu guys think?

If you subscribe to my blog would you be so kind as to drop me a geek mail? Just put SUB in the subject and leave the body blank if you want.
I'm trying to add up something and would REALLY dig knowing who is out there reading my inane and insane posts.
Honestly I'm expecting like..2..geek mails. lol.
But I'll explain it all soon in another post.
I have recently come into a decent size of mech warrior dark age figures. And while I have never played it, I think I'm going to break out my old battletech rules and just up the scale a bit. I'm pretty sure battletech was my first REAL game I ever played. And i played it weekly at a club for like a year. it and ONLY it.
You can see them in my gallery if you so wish, if anyone is interested in a trade just let me know. Maybe even for a game not on my list. Who knows.
There seems to be a big divide on playing battletech, I have found. You have the "ITS A BOARD GAME GOD DAMN IT, PLAY ON HEXES" group vs the "These minis are so fucking cool and I like 3D terrain" and then you mix in the "THESE ARE THE MECHS THE GREAT HOUSES HAVE MADE AND WE MUST PLAY WITH THEM BECAUSE THAT IS THE WAY IT IS INTENDED" vs "Hey, check out these rules IN THE BOOK about making custom mechs, crazy!"
I am all about table gaming it and custom mechs. I have played on hex boards with pre made though. I'm pretty sure I can beat you either way. Yes that sounds boastful, but its not boasting when you can back it up.
I also have faced, and lost every time, to a Clan custom 100 ton mech that is death incarnate. One day I'll beat it. Ok that's a lie. It can't be beaten. Trust me ok. It deals enough damage in one round to take out the front armor, internal armor, and some of the BACK armor (just for the shit of it) on a 100 ton's center torso. And with the targeting computer, they all actually go there.
I mainly liked customs because i LOATHE heat. And ammo for the most part. If I am ever given a mech with machine gun ammo, first round, dump that shit. Mech's above 30 tons should NEVER use machine guns. Why you ask? Because the explosion of machine gun ammo is cataclysmic and 30 or less ton mechs have a pretty shitty life span anyway, so if they internally explode, no one cares. Also mechs above 30 tons are to damn slow to get in the range really needed to shoot machine guns effectively.
SO. I have this card game called Anima. They made a revised edition and changed like all of THREE cards. FFG was cool enough to send me the three new cards as "replacements". Granted this was after they misunderstood what i asked for and sent me 10 cards I couldn't use. BUT NONETHELESS, FFG is pretty cool about that. I'm sure other companies do stuff like this, but I like FFG 'cuz it is For Fucking Gamers and Feels Freely Giving is a good thing. Yeah that was SUPER lame. Feel Free, Gentlemen, to continue this lameness in the comments

"...Who the Hell do you think I am? I'm the Goddamn Batman"
So i finally popped in arkham city. I think i missed an intro or something. Saw where brucey boy gets taken hostage, but was there a story build up about WHY there is a fucking prison in the middle of gotham?
who the hell green lighted that?
In case anyone ever wondered who he hated the most, its joker. there is a scene, its not even brutal, but it makes that clear.
so the game is fun, and its REALLY pretty. But i get lost a lot. there is a ton of shit going on. random guy to beat up, side quests like crazy, after you hack radio channels they come and go as you swing around the different turfs.
but its not holding my attention. the load time after you die is kind of long, i'm sure there is a reason, but it just seems longer than it should be, more so when i die like 10 seconds after it loads.
the combo system is neat, but i find my hands getting tired of mashing square when its a huge group of guys, guess i'm out of button mashing practice or just old. or both. it also loses its shine really fast. its neat to see him beat down like 10 dudes and counter their attacks and dodge their blades etc and use diff gadgets in the fight...once. maybe twice. after doing it like 3 or 4 times it kind of gets old.
i dont like how if a guy is on the ground the only way to take him out is to do a ground take down, which opens you up BIG time. why can't he just do an axe kick? or curb stomp? or just kick his face UP so the guy is up again?
anyway i'm trying to get mr freeze at this moment. penguin has him. i know i SHOULD play some more, and i dont want to trade it until i do, but nothing is making me go back in there and pop it in.
the story feels 1990s cartoony too. hey there is this master plan i dont know what is, i'll go beat up two face and ask catwoman HE'LL/she'll KNOW IT! no? ok, JOKER WILL KNOW IT! no? "insert next know bat man villain" Ok that kind of panned out... "insert next know bat man villain" i mean its how it has to work i guess, just seems... i dont know.
i think i could have come up with a better way to do it. and if i feel that way i'm sure someone that gets paid to do it REALLY could have done a better job.
ANY WHEN WILL I GET TO BEAT RIDDLLER'S ASS? i hate his little bull shit "go collect these"
i do know i want to play xenoblade though. been waiting on it for a LONG time.
