Dungeons & Dragons: Castle Ravenloft

Worked on some Dungeons & Dragons: Castle Ravenloft models for Cardboard Carnage here on BGG.Here they are.

The Wraiths:
These ones were fun to paint with their robes and ghost skin. For the skin, I blended up from a dark grey to white before covering it with Tamiya Clear Green to make them look ghostly.

Gargoyles:
These are just statues, so the models look a bit boring, but I Think the paintjob suits it's purpose, might try to add something to make them look a bit flashiers

Skeletons:
Nothing special too special about them, the feet and hands are missing details so I painted in the toes and fingers.

Wolves:
Last models for this update, the wolves. Standard models, I added in glowing yellow eyes and bloody mouths.

Here's a WIP of the Flaming Skeletons:
Kind of annoying that the flames re in clear blue instead of just clear plastic. Makes it a bit harder for the effect I'm trying to achieve. So far it's one coat of Tamiya Clear Yellow. I will add either another coat of that or use Gamesworkshop Yellow Ink. The rest of the colors will be Tamiya Clear Orange and Tamiya Clear Red.

The rest of these models are to be finished next update. I have some ghouls, spiders, zombies, kobolds, and rat swarms next.I hope you guys and Cardboard Carnage like these models. C & C Welcome

I've subscribed. I'm thinking about painting my Wrath of Ashardalon minis, so these are useful ideas to look at (and let me know if you wind up getting that game and painting it!). Those DUST: Tactics minis are AMAZING!

Hi Innocent Bystander,

Here is a tutorial on the bases, not too many pictures, since it's mostly dealing with the painting of the DUST Tactics squads. It's somewhere near the bottom:
http://fantasyflightgames.com/edge_news.asp?eidn=2392

Basically it is:
Small Slate or Aquarium Rock glues onto the bases followed by fine gravel or sand.
The first color of paint is Citadel Khemri Brown.
The drybrush is Citadel Bleached Bone.
The rocks/slate are Codex Grey and highlighted with Fortress Grey.
Than Static Grass is glued on followed by clump foliage.

If you need to know manufacturers, just shoot me a message and I'll be glad to help you.

Hope that helps.

Thanks for all the comments everyone. If you need any painting helps/advice, feel free to ask me, and if you have ideas for tutorials, message me and I'll see if I can write something up.

Very nice painting! It's interesting to see how you've gone with color choices (often) very similar to the D&D miniatures versions, though with much better painting.

I think the simple stone gargoyles look very good. But if you want to add some visual interest, maybe glowing eyes would make sense on a living statue?

I recently got my Castle Ravenloft minis painted (the ones shown in the photos above) and I was completely thrilled! The photos can't capture the details that were put into these guys, and I have to say that I was more than extremely happy with the quality, turn around time and price.

Nam Nguyen (So Rice) is very talented with a brush and minis, and I highly recommend you try out the service, I speak from my own experience when I tell you that you won't be sorry!

I already had several of the minis pre-painted, but decided to go ahead and get the full set painted up because we have been playing the game so often. When you put these hand painted minis side by side with the pre-painted factory ones, they are worlds apart!

I have several more projects I will be sending in to have painted and urge you all to give it a try if you have something you want done!

D.
