XBOX Live iOS App

Microsoft has just released a free, universal Xbox Live iOS app, available here.

I gave this app a quick try and was very impressed. Everything worked smoothly and quickly. In most cases, everything I tried was faster than the dashboard on the 360. I was able to change my avatar, send messages, check achievements, see who is online, and more. It is definitely worth checking out.

Apples to Apples on Xbox live -
In other news - Apples to Apples has been released on Xbox Live. Apparently the word on the street (which I have not been able to confirm) is that this is not available in the United Kingdom, Also unclear is whether there is any reason as to why.

The game does have a trial version that you can download first before deciding if you want to purchase the full game.

This week's XBLA deals mostly feature titles that are relatively unknown as far as I can tell:

Guwange -- 1/2 off at 400 points ($5)
Bangai-O HD: Missile Fury -- 1/2 off at 400 points ($5)
Hard Corps: Uprising (Not listed in the database yet - who wants to enter it?) -- 1/2 off at 600 points ($7.50)
Radiant Silvergun -- 1/2 off at 600 points ($7.50)

Apples to Apples has some odd variations when played on the Xbox.

The solitaire game is basically a word find.

There are two variations of the normal game played locally, one where a bunch of red cards are spread out and it's basically the first of you that clicks on it submits it. You can re-choose a couple times then you're locked out with your previous choice standing, and when everyone stops then the person whose turn it is judges the results.

I expect it plays better with multiple players over Live, with only one per screen.

Thank you for the information on this. My wife and I were interested in it but without really knowing any details we were a little apprehensive.

I haven't played it myself, but Radiant Silvergun is highly touted by many shmup fans. It has a certain cult classic status since it was only released in Japan and was for the Sega Saturn, which means that for western gamers it was a fairly rare import.
