As a huge medieval history buff, I've always loved reading about the history of England and of its Knights and Castles. In particular, I was fascinated with Knights performing in Grand Tournaments and jousting against one another in competition or to the death!
I found myself going to renaissance fairs watching actual Knights riding on beautiful steeds, jousting full contact in armor against each other. This was actual jousting competitions and not live action shows you see in Vegas.
After years of research and continues refinements, I felt I was able to recreate in a game format the true feel of a Tournament Joust competition. My goal was to create something as close to the actual process of two knights jousting against one another. I’ve tried to simulate all the nuances and subtle details of two Knights charging one another on warhorses down the list, while aiming a moving lance at your opponent, who can react to your tactics and with his own creative style.
Tournament Joust is just that; a new game of simulating grand tournaments with heroic Knights competing across England in jousting matches for glory and riches.
It uses elements of strategy, tactics, and just a little bit of luck.
The game consists of a main game board where all action takes place. The components consist of Movement cards, Aiming cards, Knight Reaction cards, one D10 die, red and blue player tokens/colored cubes, knights jousting figures, a rulebook, and player/character sheets.
I’ve tried to make the game play as detailed as possible with total randomness taken out completely. The only random aspect of the game is the chance movement of your lance tip when you increase the speed of your horse charging down the list!
All action takes place simultaneously with each player’s actions and reactions happening at the same time.
The game plays as a single tournament with up to 8 players or it can be played as a campaign with tournament across England culminating into a Grand world championship finally.
