Bina Altera

Bina Altera creates strong, emotive images that focus on still life, theatrical scenes, and mood. She accomplishes this by using imagery that has the ability to recall an event, real or imagined. She likens each of her images to movie stills. When put together, they create a precariously balanced puzzle that gives a sense of movement, and builds a story open to poetic interpretation. Often, images that would seem to have no relation to one another provoke a unique interpretation when juxtaposed. Bina's work has been included in a number of exhibitions and has been commissioned by clients such as Atlantic Monthly, New York Times, Boston Sunday Magazine, AIGA and author Clive Barker. She has also won numerous awards. Bina has lectured around the U.S. on digital media, and dedicates a good deal of time to perfecting her techniques as well as doing research to identify new material. She is a graduate of The Art Institute of Boston, and lives in Brooklyn, NY.
