Prehistoric games often have themes or storylines set in a time before prerecorded history. These unwritten histories are usually compiled under time periods, including the Stone Age, Bronze Age, and Iron Age.

Many of the popular Prehistoric games are set in the Stone Age, hunter/gatherer societies, or time periods when dinosaurs existed.
