This metalist is intended to be a reference to a certain genre of geeklist: the couples geeklist. That is, geeklists where gamer couples comment on their experiences of gaming together and their shared or divergent tastes in games. (Geeklists of the "What can I get my nongamer spouse to play?" type do NOT belong here, though I have included some of the "How I/my partner became a gamer" type.)

"In general we like light to medium games (not really into brain burners), less big on strongly abstract games, don't like games that require too much aggression or screwing your opponent, and, most importantly, are fun. Some element of luck, which so many serious gamers understandably dislike, is fine with us as it seems to add some spice."

"I come from a checkers and Euchre background, while he played D&D and a lot of computer games in high school and college. I'm a fan of strategy, which I define as planning ahead one or more paths to success, whereas my husband likes tactical, which he defines as responding to the current situation. We prefer to play games that reward strategy (though not too much), yet are still interesting on a turn by turn level, and we're not adverse to a bit of luck either. If you can wrap all that in a great theme, or nice bits, then it'll be a runaway best seller with us!"

"Eleven months ago, Rachy gave birth to our first child- a healthy and beatiful baby girl. During the nine months of her pregnancy (and I might add that it was exactly nine months, to the day!) we found that our entertainment habits had somewhat changed. Instead of finding ourselves at concerts, movies, parties, or the occasional smokey bar, we mostly stayed home and played boardgames. Not that I was complaining."

"I am new to the boardgaming hobby and got hooked immediatley... My next stop might be gameboard rehab since I have traded or sold all my xbox titles (except guitar hero II) so I could get more games.
The hobby has definitely added great family time together (whether its just me and the wife, or my sister), away from the TV and videogames. We dont mind the power going out anymore...it just means candlelight gaming time.
Anyways here is a list of the games we got and how we both feel about them."

"I have introduced a variety of games to my wife over the past 3 years, to varying degrees of success. I've developed an odd skill in this venture. I am
terrible consistently inconsistent in my ability to predict her response to a new game. I have several failed theories...
1. Inverse relationship between her enjoyment and direct confrontation
2. Dislike of historic/fantasy/war theme
3. Direct relationship between her enjoyment and win percentage
These have all fallen by the wayside, as you will see in the entries below.
Question 1: Can you correctly recommend a new 2 player game she will enjoy?
Question 2: Is there some pattern here that I'm not seeing?
