LordDillon and I joined BGG together, and one of my first microbadges was the "My lover is also a BGG user". I have been noticing hints of "who goes with who" lately, on threads for how you manage a shared collection, to images of a daughter learning to play a certain game, to a picture of a wife cutting into a cake.
It would be neat to see the couples together, and hear stories of how you found each other and BGG.

LordDillon and I have been together about three years. We played the games I had, and we were adding a few new ones. I wanted to replace a copy of ZERTZ that went missing over several years and several moves, but could not remember what it was called. I did Google searches for things like "game rings marbles gray", because I didn't know there was a place I could go, describe the game, and have it identified by game gurus.
As you can imagine, I had to do a lot of browsing, and while browsing, a Latin word caught LordDillon's eye. Having been raised in a rural community, a game about farming did not sound like such a good idea, but if LordDillon was interested, I would give it a try. While researching Agricola, we discovered BGG. The session reports and reviews were a huge help in having me warm to the idea, and once I played it, I was won over. Now I can't imagine buying a game for more than a dollar or two without researching on BGG first.

How We Met
We met about 6 or 7 years ago at church. We became pretty good friends and hung out occasionally with a larger circle of friends. Gaming at the time was an occasional activity but nothing too serious. A little over 3 years ago, circumstances found most of our group of friends no longer friendly toward each other and the two of us found ourselves on one side of that fence. So we hung out more and became best of friends. We found ourselves matched up by the other builders on a mission trip and started dating.
How We Found BGG
Just before our group of friends dissolved, I discovered a game called Bang! at an old buddy's birthday party. The group loved it (except Christie, ironically) and started talking about their childhood days of playing Risk and other games. Nostalgic myself, I remembered my childhood favorite had been updated so I went out and bought Axis & Allies. Researching more games like Axis & Allies and Bang, I stumbled upon BGG. I soon joined and never left.
After Christie and I started dating, we began to play more and more games. She noticed I was spending time on some website and wanted to be a part of it as well. So after about 6 months of dating, she set up her account to log a few Session Reports.
You, Me, and BGG
Now that we are here together, our major milestone is that we were engaged ... and gaming is how it happened. The story is best left to her to tell in the Session Report: An ENGAGING game.
Following shortly after, we married last September. We made gaming a part of the reception ... but I haven't gotten around to that session report yet. But thanks to a generous donation by Dominic Crapuchettes and North Star Games, every table at the reception was able to play a game or two of Wits & Wagers with game prizes for the winners! And that has helped us propel a few more friends and family into gaming!

Kara and I met in a chat room on a singles website called CatholicSingles.com. We met on April 1st 2004. At the time, she lived in Nebraska and I in Texas. Most of our dates were meetings in Wichita, KS. I would bring along small games like San Juan and we would usually spend some of our time chatting and playing games.
I was already a member on BGG although just as a lurker. We got married on August 12, 2006. Buying tickets to BGGCON06 was our first joint decision as married couple. I actually picked them up before we were married, but I remember calling her and saying that I would normally have just picked them up. However, since we would be married by the time of the CON, I felt I should call and ask.
Kara is not active on the geek, but is an active member of our group and really enjoys the CON. For me, the geek is a drug.

My wife. We met at a Church we both attended, she came up to me and introduced herself. After that: married, 4 kids, blessings keep on coming.
She got into gaming through Carcassonne, but the games that slam dunked the deal were Ticket to Ride, Pandemic, and the one I designed Cheese Chasers. She LOVES playing all these games and wants to play them twice a week, if life and work don't get in the way. With 4 kids, there's a lot of life (and less hair on my head...).
She finally broke down and joined the geek so she could take potshots at me in the forums. She also likes make homemade stuff, so threads about sewing bags for games and making other gaming stuff have really got her sticking around.

Wyndice and I met at a gas station in TN. After many years of living in different places, then together, then in different places again, we have finally ended up in the same place and will be getting married in about a month!
Ever since we met we have been playing games. I discovered the geek about the time we met and Odin's Ravens was one of our first purchases. We have since played many many games together. Her favorites these days are BattleLore, Mr. Jack, Yahtzee, and Ghost Stories. Downside, she assures me that Power Grid is just advanced Monopoly, which drives me nuts. I suppose I can't complain though. She's not really active on BGG, however, I think that she probably uses it for my xmas shopping!

Okay, this is pretty geeky/sappy. Yes, all at the same time.
I'm a Californian. Phrim's lived his whole life in New Jersey. In 2003, I was a master's student finishing up my coursework and starting to work on my thesis. But I was spending a lot of time in an IRC chatroom as associated forum devoted to the works of Tolkien, which I'd found a year or so earlier when it was seeing a lot of new membership due to the movies. Phrim showed up and started spending a lot of time there, and as it turned out, we both really enjoyed talking to each other, in fact, it started to get a little flirty.
I invited him out to visit me and he did.  At the time I knew he was involved in the Lord of the Rings TCG; in fact, he often told us in the room about tournaments he'd played in and so forth. I couldn't make up my mind whether I really wanted to try playing that (in the end, I did play it, more than a little)-- I wasn't a gamer at the time for the simple reasons that I didn't have any friends who were gamers and could have introduced me to good games. Anyway, as it turned out, he was interested in board games as well as TCGs, and he brought a few to play: a couple silly light games and also Citadels and The Settlers of Catan (I had a friend, so these were three-player games). So obviously, I married him.
Well, okay, not immediately, I finished my thesis, moved out east, got a job, we lived together for a couple years, and THEN I married him. It was a good idea
(However, F in my name is not Faust. Though being named Faust is undoubtedly pretty cool.)
How we found BGG? Well, it was a multi-step process. Phrim is a playtester for Andy Parks (these days, I am too, but that is beside the point), who asked him to come on the site and rate/comment on his games. He did, but wasn't really an active member at the time. When I remember this changing is when we went on vacation to Washington D.C. and attended a game night at a friend's house there. BGG was mentioned and Phrim started participating more actively. I eventually got tired of looking over his shoulder and made my own account; now we are both pretty active (and pretty obsessed).

Meet my wife Sara:
Unfortunately, there's nothing geeky about the way we met: during our studies. What's more, at the time I really wasn't spending much time gaming and I wasn't planning on 'converting' Sara to geekdom at all.
But she was a natural. I wasn't flaunting my geeky stuff, but I wasn't hiding it either. So of course, she saw Magic cards lying around and miniatures (some painted) standing on my shelf; and, believe me or not, she actually asked me what that was about and whether I'd teach her how to play. Which I did, and she didn't run screaming.
Now we have a respectable board game collection, I became a BGG member at the end of 2007, and she followed suit a while later. We play games very regularly.
To top it off: just 3 weeks ago, our first child was born.
Yup, I'm a happy geek!

Take a closer look
That's my fiancé. We met while acting in a musical at our school - hence the slightly embarassing game choice.  That was over twelve years ago. We were (sort of) friends first and have now been a couple for nearly ten years.
When we met, neither of us were what one could call hardcore gamers. I did the occasional bit of party gaming with friends and thought Monopoly was great fun and the pinnacle of gaming.  He was into RPGs and had also already discovered the wonder that was Settlers, so he was way more open to gaming as a hobby. I remember when he purchased Wizard and I absolutely refused to play it because I thought it was "some of that weird Fantasy stuff". It took him at least a year to convince me to give it a try and have his big "I told you so" moment when I absolutely loved it and wanted to play it all the time!
That was our slow start into gaming together. Some of our next purchases were Citadels and, of course, Carcassonne. It was Carcassonne that really sold me on the hobby - our true gateway game. Since then we have been continuously adding to our collection, getting into heavier Eurogames and also some of the more theme-heavy American stuff like Arkham Horror.
He discovered the Geek and became a member way earlier than I did and kept talking to me about that awesome site with information on all the games. Some days I felt like every other sentence started with "Here's what I read on the Geek...". Eventually in late 2008, I became curious enough to have a look myself. Another one of those "I told you so" moments when I started spending hours reading up on games
Today we own a collection of 125 games. We're getting married in autumn and are looking forward to a happy future full of gaming - starting with our honeymoon which will consist, in true Geek style, of our first ever ESSEN visit

How we met: Roslyn and I were both film students, and we met on the set of a student film. Neither of us had particularly busy jobs on the set, so we had a lot of time to chat and get to know each other. In the end, it wasn't a particularly good film, but it was a romance, so it makes for a nice story.
How we got into games: Before we moved in together, Roslyn started every day playing a couple of games of Backgammon with her mother, while I grew up playing games such as Space Crusade, HeroQuest and Warhammer Quest. We both knew we loved games, but mostly we enjoyed playing video games together. I somehow always knew about the hobby-games scene, but never got into it, until we played The Settlers of Catan on Xbox Live Arcade. We bought the board-game version within a week. It was a while before we got any other games, but Roslyn bought me Carcassonne on our first wedding anniversary (Paper!). Then we went on a tour through Europe and came back with Zooloretto and Alhambra, and then the gaming started in earnest...

On our first date, way back in 1995 as college freshmen at the University of Illinois, we checked out a copy of Boggle from the residence hall front desk. We had every intention of playing that evening too, but never quite got around to it.
We did get around to playing word games together before too long had passed. At best I've only been able to match her at Boggle and usually she has the upper hand; I am just a little bit better than Sara at Scrabble though.
A few years later, now married, we made the trip up to Chicagoland to see my parents, and stopped by the apartment of a college friend who had landed a job in the area. He showed us how to play Settlers of Catan and an addiction was born.
So we've been in the hobby for the same amount of time, although we've branched in different ways since then. Sara's a Eurogamer and I'm more into heavy economic and civilization games. I will play Euros, Ameritrash, and the occasional light wargame too. Her favorite game by far is Agricola, which I also rate very highly, so usually when we meet across a table at game nights farming is the order of the evening.
Sara's not very active on BGG at present. I keep hoping that will change, and perhaps it will after she defends her master's thesis this May. However we will have a little less time for gaming once the baby, our first, arrives in September.
We've also gamed with another couple on this list. We lived out in Northern Virginia for a couple years after I got a job there, and went back to visit friends at Euroquest 2007 where we were introduced to Anni and Doug. I remember games of Phoenicia and Agricola (the hot new Essen game!), and there were a couple more which I don't remember as well.

-April 24, 1976: Our story begins the day we were both born (yes, we share the same birthday - even the same year!)
-September 1999: We meet through one of my brothers, and quickly become friends

-2003: I re-discover the hobby of board gaming and BGG at around the same time
-January 2005: We get engaged
-October 15, 2005: Our game collections officially merge
-2005 - 2009: Gaming becomes our favourite past-time, as we grow into the hobby together
-Present: Our games are soon going to become a whole lot more colourful, as we are about to start a new hobby - painting minis!

Long ago (in a galaxy not so far away) I called up my friend Nissa and asked if she felt like getting together to play some games. She already had plans with her friend Lisa, but suggested that we could all get together, get some other friends and play some Space Marine. Lisa was a bit disappointed by this, as she just wanted to do things with Nissa, but reluctantly showed up.
As it happened, there were only so many different armies available, and Lisa and I both preferred to play Eldar, so we decided to play as a team. Due to the rather odd way we chose to play to accommodate so many players, we had some chunks of downtime, and I had nothing to do but flirt with my charming and lovely ally. Ok, actually, I probably had lots of other things to do, but nothing in the world I'd rather do!
So, we hit it off and have been gaming together (as well as spending most of life together) ever since.
Back in those days, we mostly played RPGs and Games Workshop games. At a game con in '93, this new card game called Magic was showing up. I was ambivalent, but Lisa had to try it, and we got thoroughly caught up in the MtG craze.
Years later, at another Con, we ran into this innocent looking little game with a few hexagons and wooden pieces that would change our gaming lives. We were invited to play Settlers of Catan, and were amazed. The day following the Con, we drew hexes on a big sheet of plastic to use crayons to draw roads and houses on with a bunch of magic lands used as resources and assorted MtG cards forming the discovery deck. We were so eager to play more that we couldn't wait until we could actually find a copy! Then, while looking for a game for me for my birthday, Lisa blundered onto Funagain, and came home one day with a huge stack of printed reviews. She bought me Traders of Genoa and Carcassonne.
Neither of us can remember who stumbled onto BGG, but it fueled the minor obsession into full fledged gaming madness for both of us!

My sweetie and I met on match.com almost 2 years ago. We emailed back and forth for about a month before we decided to meet for lunch. I owe my current wonderful relationship in part to my roommate at the time because I almost chickened out that morning and rescheduled the date but she got me over my nervousness and stood at the door until I got into my car.
I met Erin for lunch and we hit it off really well. We were done eating after about 45 minutes but we ended up staying at the table for about 3 hours, neither one ready to end the date. He was smart and funny and of course I was my normal wonderful self so we were a match!
When we met he was already into boardgames and on the geek so I am not sure how he discovered BGG. When he told me he was into boardgames my first thought was "OH yay! My friends and I love to play boardgames!" but of course I was thinking of the normal party games we played when we all got together. He invited another couple over one night and I was introduced to this whole new world of games and it was love at first play!
He never really introduced me formally to the geek but after we moved in together(6 months ago) I saw how he kept track of his plays and collection and saw the online community he was a part of and became more curious. I think I had already created my ID but I just became active here a couple of months ago, created my first geeklist and I was off and running.

My wife and I met at the ConQuesT science-fiction convention in Kansas City Memorial Day weekend of 1996. Her brother and sister would attend occasionally, and she had been once before, but we had never run into each other despite having a lot of friends in common, and me being a regular attendee since 1983. I met the three siblings Friday night at the "Lonely Single Guys Not Getting Any" party in the room of a good friend of theirs, whom I also knew.

and I started chatting at the party, then went with a bunch of folks downstairs to the dance. There we found ourselves paired off and continued chatting throughout the dance and well into the night. We met for breakfast next day, and between my panel appearances and browsing the dealers room, we continued to find likes and dislikes that we had in common over the rest of the weekend.
We exchanged phone numbers and carried on a long-distance friendship (she lived in Topeka, KS and I owned a house in Tulsa, OK) over the summer, running up some horrendous phone bills.
In short, we met on Memorial Day weekend, got engaged Columbus Day weekend (at Archon in St. Louis), and got married on Christmas Eve, all in 1996.
We sorta re-discovered our mutual enjoyment of board games a couple of years ago, but it wasn't until last fall that I found and joined BGG, and she joined also a couple months ago. We spend most of our on-line time in Chit-Chat.
BTW: I picked that game because we dressed up as the Incredibles a couple years ago for Halloween. Here's a shot of the whole family in our costumes:

I chose this game because it was one of the first games we played together.
Okay. That's a lie.
It's one of the first games she saw me refuse to play. Within minutes, she understood why I had refused to play.

As to how we met ... Livejournal had (or has) a "Random User" function. When I was bored, I would hit it. And that is how I found my wife.

My love and I met at QuakeCon, which is why I chose this particular game. We met through a mutual friend (who she met through NaNoWriMo and I met through WoW long ago), and in line while waiting to register our computers, we played a game of Modern Art (I won, woo!). In a lull period, she taught three of us Pandemic, and I instantly loved the game. I think there might've been some hints of a different love at that point.
Gave her a hug on the way out at the airport.
Cue us talking a bit online afterward and hitting it off near-instantly. On my visit to Berkeley, we started playing almost her entire collection, the first of which being Race for the Galaxy. We played games upon games of it, leading me to buy it myself when I got back to MA and us playing it online (jankity style, separate decks, milling cards to simulate opponents' draw, discarding unique cards when already played), along with other games.
She has since visited the coast-with-weather, and we still play games all the time online. There should be no surprise that we're both edging up the lifetime plays of Race chart, through sheer desire to play it whenever we can.
We are both avid BGG users, both have the microbadge, and I can't wait to see her again. Which will, all willing, be soon and for a long, long time.

My avatar is our cat (son?) who is very well behaved around our games.
I have been a boardgamer most of my life, and she took to the hobby soon after she moved to the US, including going along with the idea of taking a trip to the local game store to pick up something for our honeymoon (Lost Cities).
Since then, there have been a lot of laughs, a lot of gaming and late last year, she finally got here own Geek signon. Maybe she'll do more than dip her toe in the waters of the BGG lake, but no hurry.

The year we met Ronald Reagan was president and E.T. was the hot movie. We met because one of my college roommates (and once again current roommate) was Rick’s boss. He and his wife are still our very best friends. That was 1982.
The year we married was 1985. The hot movie was Back to the Future and the Commodore Amiga was brand new.
We played a lot of games: Backgammon, Dungeon and Dragons, Mah Jongg, Chess, Russian Bank, Cribbage, Risk and even Trivial Pursuit. We played what was available.
Our two sons were born: Chris in 1988 and Nat in 1991. Gaming took a back seat. The Berlin Wall fell. We didn’t see any movies.
Settlers of Catan is first printed in 1995. We take no notice at all.
Then in 2003 Nat became ill for a long time. We haunted toy stores looking for things to amuse him and bought a copy of Settlers of Catan on the recommendation of a toy store owner who had a few interesting looking games in the back corner. I remember that El Grande was one of them. Our son got hooked on Settlers and we played it all the time. I know without doubt that that game helped bring him back to health. Settlers of Catan was there when we needed it and I give thanks every day for its existence.
Then one day as we were trying to find fun indoor things for Nat to do as he got better I saw by accident the website for a local gaming convention called Kubla Con. It had a Settlers of Catan Tournament of all things. So, I packed us all up and we went.
We all had the most wonderful time. We met wonderful people who are still our good friends. Nat stunned the local Diplomacy crowd by perfecting the double backstab in his first game. Chris played every game in sight. We bought 4 or 5 games we tried that weekend. Since then we’ve amassed a ridiculously large collection and play them in several venues every week.
Somewhere in all this gaming goodness we found BoardGameGeek. I don't remember how or when, but I seem to be permanently logged in here these days.
Rick is jealous that I got to be Geek of the Week a while back. I am jealous that his game designs keep winning contests and he keeps being asked to send prototypes all over the world. His games are better traveled than we are!
This Valentine’s Day we celebrated with an all day campaign game of Silverton. Rick won. I’m insisting on a rematch next year, our 28th together.

Well, Lisa and I met 20 years back during our first year in junior high school. A group including us became inseparable and hung out daily. She slowly became my closest female friend, so I decided to ask her to the junior high school senior prom. Unfortunately, that lead to some miscommunication as she thought I had interest in her beyond friendship. Long story short, we had a small disconnect during high school, but mutual friends help bring our relationship together and stronger than ever. Now, she has become the girl I turn to when I wanted to talk about my relationships. Lisa was also my party buddy, not to mention my wing-women ... ... sort of ironic eh? Anyway, about four and a half years ago, we both happened to be single and hanging out together often. One day, Lisa told me that she was jealous of a girl that I just began dating. We discussed our feelings and decided to give us a try. Bottom line, I proposed to her a few months back and we plan on getting married this September. Though cliche, I can truly say, I'm marrying my best friend.
As for board gaming, we got hooked onto Carcassonne by a mutual childhood friend. Now, it is a huge part of our everyday life. In fact, we host every Friday night at our house for all of our closest friends. Most of them were friends we have made since elementry and junior high school, along with some others who we have met through gaming. It's a blessing to be able to spend time with your dearest friends like we do each week ... ... board games allow us to do so.
Lisa, though not as involved with BGG or crazy about gaming like me, will put up with all my antics. The first picture below was taken at NYC'c FAO Schwartz because I was trying to earn my first few GG. Unfortunately, we had to travel about two hour by subway (round trip) and fight through the Christmas crowds during a cold winter in order to get it. Yet, look at that smile ... ... she was a trooper. The second photo involves a crazy idea I that had while she was consulting in Germany. I decided to ask the BGG community if anyone would like me to bring games back. Well, there was a bigger response than I had expected. Sid and I met at ballroom dance class back in 2004 when I moved out to Denver. The studio manager even tried to warn me by going "watch out for that one" (about Sid). I was doing my best impression of "Oblivious Guy", and months of flirting later, I asked her to my company's holiday party to show off our dance skills. Our second date was her company's holiday party (no pressure).
After a few more dates, I nervously broke the news about my game habit. Much to my surprise, she said she gamed too, just that it had been a long time since (I'm going to guess being single mom and getting her college degree at the same time might put a dampner on the gaming).
Anyway, iron dragon was one of the first games I showed to her, and she absolutely loved it. We've played it a lot, probably several hundred times as a conservative estimate.
We were introduce to BBG by some of the members of DenverGames yahoo group that meet on various days and nights for gaming including Brian, who I poked fun at a little bit earlier on this list.
Last thing, we just took a gamer cruise, and had a great time and we'd recommend it to anybody. I did a geek list about it.

We met years ago playing Eve:Online where he was my mining squad leader. Our friendship was only that way back when, he took a new job and left the game. We kept in casual touch over IM for awhile but then he dropped off the planet.
Fast forward a year or so, he pops onto IM suddenly and I say hello... turns out I was about to get divorced and he was too. We renewed the friendship and then it just grew from there. I moved to Houston (where he lived) after my divorce since I had a strong friends base there and it was away from my ex and the bad memories in Dallas and we got together and have been happily together ever since.
So, yes, we are one of those weird couples who met playing an MMO...but we didn't actually hook up in game. We so easily might never have met, but we also might have met way back when had things been different (since I lived in Houston before, working in IT, and he used to work in the same building I spent six weeks doing a training class in, etc.) I truly think G-d had planned for us to get together but we both hit some stumbling blocks in the past and He had to come up with a very convoluted way of getting the job done. But, since we wouldn't have had his boys without going about it the long way... I can't say I wish it were different.

Yep that was 12 Power Grid maps back to back over two days. Worth doing, but possibly not in such a concentrated burst.

and I met when I was 13 years old, at a role-playing games convention that I nearly didn't go to. It was my first.
Many years later, and many relationships later, we started dating - just before I moved to Austria for a year to study.
We discovered our love of gaming independently, but we rediscovered it together and have build our hobby and our collection. I'm delighted that our children share that love of games.
Our next adventure is a move to Germany for the second half of the year. Not only to explore the Mecca of Gaming, although this year I get to show the rest of the family what OMGESSEN! is really like.

In a roundabout way, Robin and I met through discussions about boardgames.
We both worked at Barnes & Noble. I was a bookseller and she worked at the in-house Starbucks. So, me and some of the guys had started a HeroClix league and we used to discuss nuances of the game or some anecdotal stuff from one of our games in the break room. Robin had started listening in and wanting to know about the game, dropping hints to me that she wanted to be taught how to play.
I should have guessed she was flirting with me! I was the only one she ever asked to teach her to play. Of course, dimwitted me did not pick up on her overtures, and being none the wiser I thought she was just being friendly and inquisitive. When she went into the manager's office and stole my home phone number and called me, well, let's just say that my curiousity was piqued!
So, we dated, briefly. Some of those dates consisted of meeting for lunch and then a quick jaunt to the comic book store or the FLGS. Wow! She likes comic books and games? I thought I'd died and gone to heaven.
Anyhow, we dated for about three months and then got married. And we just celebrated our fifth wedding anniversary on Monday, 4/6 (and where the 4604 part of my user name hails). Not long after we were married we decided to start playing a wider range of boardgames, so our collection officially began when we went to the FLGS and purchased Pirate's Cove and Runebound, followed by Battle Cry.
A question arose over Runebound and I decided to look online to see if I could find the answer and I discovered BGG! And what a discovery it was! I never knew so many boardgames existed! I quickly joined up, Robin following about a year later. She even made Geek of the Week! Yay!
So, that's our story. Thanks for reading.
Oh, and yes, I finally taught her HeroClix! She then set about schooling me everytime we played.

Our story is pretty funny actually... One of these cold, lonely evenings, I decided to visit the SoulGeek portal, just for fun, to check if there is anyone from Poland there. There was ONE girl. What's more, she was from the same city I'm from. Plus, we shared a lot of things: music, literature, and webcomics. I decided this is some kind of a sign, and started looking for her details. But, SoulGeek does not allow direct contact between users if you haven't payed them. So I had to look for her all over the internet. I found two of three of her profiles at different websites, each of them inactive. But I managed to get her e-mail from a Polish auction portal.
I sent her an e-mail, waited for a while and when she responded, I asked her out for tea. We spent three 'dates' together, then we had the fourth and finally, we kissed. It all went downhill from there - in fact she's the reason I live in England. I changed my University to live with her here in Rochester, and basically forfeited everything I had for granted in Poland I'm not sorry of course, though I used to enjoy my gaming afternoon with friends, and I don't have much people to play games with here.
She recently registered on the Geek after my suggesting she could manage her 'Want to Play' list etc, and so she did. She doesn't have any games of her own at the moment, since my collection is sufficient. And we still long for playing games more than we do, since most of my titles are better with a bigger number of players...

My wife Holly and I share our profile page together...that's why there is no separate avatar. Our avatar is a patchwork quilt she made for our nephew! It's all we could think of at the time! We are both equally immersed in board gaming and thus equally visit the BGG all the time.
Anyway, we met while studying as music majors at the University of Texas at Austin almost 17 years ago. The story goes like this. I needed an accompanist for my upcoming Tuba recital...uh, yes...I am a Tuba player! So being that she was an awesome pianist, I asked her to accompany me! And there it began...we became friends, sharing interests in music, Disc Golf, and a pure love for Tex-Mex food! But what about games...well she always had a closet of games she kept from childhood (i.e Dungeon, Clay to Win, Magic Realm, Allegro). My games were home still with the folks (Can't Stop, Othello, Stratego and others). We really didn't have much time back then to play games...well except for Disc Golf.
Years later we started playing Clay To Win with friends. Then our FLGS carried The Great North American Bird Watching Trivia Game for a time and she could not resist purchasing it (since she has been birding ever since she was a kid)! We played this game quite a bit ourselves and with her folks! This may have been the initial spark of boardgaming for us! Pokerwas really the game that was most consistently played, especially with family visits!
One afternoon, I was searching around the internet and found BGG! I started looking up games from my childhood! We made some purchases from our FLGS and so it really began! I can remember getting Zombies!!! (second edition) for her and GIPF for me! Great starter choices considering she loves horror themed games and I enjoy abstract strategy!
