This is a little list dedicated to an ex-stray cat i fostered for Hounslow Animal Welfare Society. I called the cat Conan after the fact that he's very strong - i had him weighed at the vets while they were investigating a stomach condition he has and he weighed in at 7.1 kilos - but it was muscle not fat. He was about 12 years old and i ended up looking after him for 2 and a half years.
Conan was rehomed just under 3 weeks ago and whilst its sad to see him go, i'm glad he's gone to a good home and all being well he'll be able to spend his days in peace.
I've had a couple of emails from the new owners and although nervous he's settling in well and eating well which is a good sign.
So here's a list dedicated to Conan the cat; hope you like the photos.
It was fun looking after him, so here's to you Conan.
Feel free to add any cat memories/photos of your own.
Update 31.8.09. Visited Conan in his new home yesterday and he's doing really well spending a lot of time in the garden/outside and making friends with other cats. He's settling in well and thats very good news.

Conan at the door. Conan liked to see what was going on outdoors. He was very nervous at first and probably through bad experiences was easily spooked, but in time he became more interested in the outdoors.

Conan spying on the birds. Conan liked to watch the birds in the nearby bushes and trees. As a condition of fostering he was not allowed out for his own benefit not being familiar with the area.

Conan playing by his scratching post. I brought this fancy post fairly recently and he took to it straight away preferring it to my armchair. The picture shows Conan playing with the cat teaser.

Conan during one of his mad phases. Here Conan is playing with a bootlace near a favoured ambush spot. I'd temporarily stored some boardgames in this spot, but when moved again Conan would love to wait round the corner of the wall when playing with a stick or string.

This picture was taken by Raksha on the last day we both had with Conan. We gave him a double helping of cod, his favourite meal, and he was very happy about that although he was a little nervous as i'm sure he was aware something was up. The new owners came to collect him the next day. He is a great cat and was a good friend.

As noted in the header, Conan is doing really well in his new home. It didnt take him long once outside to bring a mouse trophy home for his new owners...

He looks a bit like your Conan, but is a bit more slim and trim.. He had to have his tail amputated a few years ago because he kept attacking and biting it (the vet said that he wasn't associating his tail with his own body) to the point of it constantly bleeding all over the place. Now he has a little nub of a tail, and he's perfectly happy, well-adjusted, and the coolest cat I have ever met!

I brought him home from the shelter where I am sure that he picked me. (He was certainly more interested than the others.)
I brought him home as a kitten and backtracking his age, he can't be more than 1 week +/- off of our wedding day.
Wonderful story and good on you to be willing to foster. I don't think I'd be able to give a cat up!

You had me at cat.
Excellent list! I couldn't give up a cat for foster care, I'd be too attached to ever let them go!

Thanks. Well yes it was difficult especially for him but it was right for him to go to a new home and move on. He now has the outdoors to explore and lots of new friends
