With the release of the 'god device'
set to release soon, and with the developers climbing over each other to develops apps for the device. I think we should put our .02 in and tell them that the killer app for the iPad is .... BOARD GAMES!
Based on the facts that the iPad will have:
1. Larger Screen (10" 4:3)
2. Decent horsepower for a small device
3. Wireless-n and possible 3G
4. Upto 64gigs Flash storage.
5. Fully touchscreen.
What Board Games would you like to see ported/created for the iPad?

Suffice to say, I think most people know what this gadget is not good.
Now, on an interface such as what the iPad has, I would have to agree that Battlelore is a good choice. Go and Chess would be others. I'm thinking more piece intensive euros would be good. Something like Tikal or Reef Encounter.

Are you really going to pay $499 for a gadget that does not support Flash, has NO G3 network at the moment, only allows Apple supported apps (no OSX on that thing, which if it did, might have been cool, so you could download 3rd party stuff), no camera, no multi-tasking...
So basically, this thing is an iPhone, with less features, just bigger.
I can be persuaded that this is an awesome thing to have. You just have to sway me. What makes it worth buying right now? If it had OSX on it, and was basically a mini-computer, not a large iPod touch, then I'm all about it. Give me the plus side that justifies paying $499 for this thing? And I'm being serious here....maybe I just don't get it, and just need to be pointed to the awesomeness.
I am not a Mac hater....I love the iPod...the iPhone is ok. I just don't see what the iPad has that makes it cool besides the size.
I'm with you. Sort of. To me, an iPhone user, it seems like just a big iPhone (which is cool, but I'd have liked a camera for video chatting; and a lower price for the 3G version). I think a better comparison, though, would be to look at the Nook and Kindle. The 9.7" Kindle (DX version) is $489. For $10 more, you get access to a bunch of books AND a whole lot more!

Yet...
Certainly you will wait until you get one in your hands before you reject it completely?

I'm not going to try and point you to the awesomeness, you must climb the mountain yourself.
But, just some facts, It does have a 3G network, it uses AT&T 3G data plan, no contract needed (which is awesome). That alone makes it better than the iPod Touch. It is correct that there is no multi-Task. That hurts, but could be fixed through OS upgrade if Apple chooses. BTW, no OSX is a plus in my opinion, for this device.
I personally think there is a great misconception about the iPad. I don't believe it is intended to be a computer, like a lap top is a computer. It's more like a large media consumption device, or e-reader that also runs safari. The niche here, IMHO, is the guy who sits on his couch or at the coffee shop, and surfs the net for pleasure, not work. I for one would love this device for that purpose. My Macbook is a great machine, but for what I really use it for it's overkill. I could see myself using the iPad instead of my Macbook about 70% of the time. Add the e-reader capabilities, and the 3G to that, the the wealth of apps that you know will come and I believe it is worth the $600 it would cost me (iPad w/ 3G).
That said if you are looking for a Mac based tablet computer, these are not the devices you are looking for. If you really want to like it, but don't; well start climbing that mountain.

Remember high school and college? remember lugging around that huge backpack of huge textbooks. What teen/college student wants to do that? Now imagine all your text books on that little iPad? Now imagine taking the bus home from school and having all your school books AND your music And your facebook etc. in the palm of your hand. Backpacks are not cool. Gadgets are cool. If it catches on with the youth... it will be bigger than the iphone.
