Even amidst the rising indifference, I think it is important to finish organizing the tournament. The two first round can be found here and here. Good luck to everyone !
If we get to this, it could well be one of the most interesting matches of the tournament. Brazil have adopted a more defensive and rough style of play since Dunga became coach. Many good and creative but not very regular players were left behind (Pato, Ronaldinho, Adriano, Diego...). The Dutch will have lots of pressure by this stage of the competition and we shall see if they can handle it this time. And hope that Robben gets over his injury.
A remake of 2006, when Germany won after a 1-1 draw, 4-2 on penalties in a very boring and long match. There are many questions concerning Maradona's talent as a coach ( he used more than a hundred players since he has been named), he has to show us proofs that he is good in the WC.
Interesting that Germany is in the lead here, since Argentina has some of world's best players in their squad...
Yes, but it's a team sport. If the players don't have good chemistry on the field, then it doesn't matter how good they are individually. (I have no idea how well Argetina play as a team, but I know Germany traditionally do well here, as many of them play together in the Bundesliga.)
I'd like to mention Greece's Euro 2004 team as an example. They had no superstars, but played well enough as a team to win the title.
One of the most horrible match of the 2008 euro, was the spanish-italian quarterfinal. Italy was less old than now, but still played its horrid football. Penalty shoot outs after and very sad 0-0. This time, the odds are with Spain, let's hope for them, that they can manage their status.
The Italians often play for the 0-0 result from the first minute of the game. They did it in the 1994 World Cup final, and again in the 2006 final. They had good goalkeepers like Buffon so they figured that's their best chance against teams like France and Brasil.
No African teems make it to the quarterfinals according to you in this "African" world cup (in fact, there will be very few supporters from other African countries because there is a huge lack of organization). Only two south American teams, all the rest are European. This seems kind of boring, I hope to see surprises.
Come on the mighty Seagulls! Puching for the play-offs ... but not sure we want to win them!
That's weird. This bit used to mention Shire Games, and tell you all how wonderful we are. But it seems to have got deleted. Let's see what happens this time ....

Any suggestions for the best striker of the world cup ? Milito ? Messi ? Villa ? Rooney ? Suarez ?
I haven't followed this. Isn't it basically, "Pick your favorite country?"
No, its predict which country will win the football match. Looking at the results so far, the people voting have pretty good knowledge of the relative strengths of international footballing nations.
On a 'pick your favourite country' poll, I think USA might have beaten Germany last round given most of this site's users are from the US...
