To be honest, I did very little on this book. I wrote like two pages on how to roleplay sorcerers, but Mongoose gave me a co-author credit. I wonder if Mongoose did that to piss off Ian Sturrock, who wrote the rest of the book. At best I deserved an Additonal Text credit.

I wrote up most of the characters presented in this volume, and that is about it. I got an Additional Text credit. I really like this book. Shannon Kalvar did a great job with it.

I wrote up characters and the multi-classing options in this book, as well as several odds and ends throughout the text. Mongoose didn't like Shannon's work on this one, and hired several people to "fix" it. I really didn't see what was wrong with the volume, but I was happy to get the work (and the money).

I created the Temptress class (which was interestingly tweaked by Gareth), and added a bit of text here and there. I was supposed to be the lead author on this book, but Mongoose changed their minds at the last minute (no explanation given), but Gareth was a great choice.

I didn't get credit in this book. I include it here because many of the monsters included were written by me for other supplements and used by Bryan Steele. I don't know why I wasn't given an Additional Text credit. Usually if I wrote even a small section, Mongoose throws my name into the credits.
Also, I was originally asked to write this. I had started work on it, and had all sorts of creatures from Howard stories (not just Conan stories), as well as regional variations on vampires and a bunch of stuff... then I read on the Mongoose forums that Bryan was working on it (it was from a post by Bryan). I emailed Mongoose to ask what was going on, since I had already done A LOT of work... and never got a reply. So I stopped working on it and this book came out. One of these days I should release what Mongoose's Conan fans missed out on. I still don't know what happened, or why I was dropped from this project without being told by anyone in charge that I was being dropped. I don't know if Bryan Steele knew I was working on it or not.
Not the best book, though. It has several research errors; for example, the frost giants in the book do not use metal weapons or armour, even though in the only Conan story they appeared in, they had both. As another example, he included the Brylukas, but invented something new from Lovecraft, even though they appeared in The Road of Eagles (a Conan story).

At least Mongoose stopped calling the Hyborian age "Hyboria." I wrote some of the adventures in this collection.

Lawrence emailed me and asked me for my notes on Khitai. I was a little surprised Mongoose didn't ask me to write this. Anyway, I sent Lawrence my notes and he used them... and gave me an Additional Text credit, which a greatly appreciated. I didn't have a lot on Khitai that hadn't already been published in Return to the Road of Kings, so that was a really nice nod in my direction.

I felt this should have been the last sourcebook Mongoose published, to keep Cimmeria a bit mysterious. Of course, it may well be the last one to be published. Due to liscensing issues, Mongoose hasn't put out much Conan material since this.
