2010 Edition of Look What My Secret Santa sent me...
-
For those of you who are new to the Secret Santa List:
I run this list as a central location to let your Secret Santa know when your (hopefully much appreciated) gift has arrived.
Use this list to record what your Secret Santa sent you and remember to include any comments such as thanks that you want to give your Secret Santa. When you post on this list, you may want to make a note on your profile with a link to your entry so your Secret Santa can easily locate your confirmation of delivery and your reaction. That way your Secret Santa can look to see if you received your gift and you can post any comments you may have about the gift here and you can reply without the identity of your Secret Santa ever having to be released!
Please only make an entry when you actually receive the present! This assists those of us who read the list regularly as recipients are adding their gifts in a chronological order.
In years past this list has been heavily monitored as the gifting season approaches and I am sure the same will hold true this year.
I find it very handy to put a link on your profile page so your Secret Santa knows where you have posted the feedback so s/he doesn't have to sort through 2000 entries to find yours quickly.
To see all previous years' editions of this list and to give the new Secret Santa participants an idea of how this works, look at these links:
"2009 List"
"2008 List"
"2007 List"
"2006 List"
To see Simon Hunt's statistical breakdown of previous years' Secret Santa:
UPDATE New list: Most Popular Secret Santa Games of 2010
Most Popular Secret Santa Games of 2009
Most Popular Secret Santa Games of 2008
Most Popular Secret Santa Games of 2007
Most Popular Secret Santa Games of 2006
IMPORTANT - When you get your gift(s), take the time to "Add Item" to this GeekList rather than place a comment at the bottom of the list. This helps the statisticians out there.
A good example of how to make an entry containing multiple gifts is located at: this entry.
Making an actual entry will also make it easier for your Secret Santa to locate your Item.

WOW!~ WOW!~
I'm so thrilled! I have the best Santa EVER!!!
I got Shipyard, which has been on my list since last year... the rondels... yay!
And, my very generous SS also sent...
Don Quixote!
And... wait... there's more...
Ablaze!
Two games that play solitaire! I have a feeling Santa did a little stalking... but he/she did it quickly! I can't wait to play these! Could I possibly use more exclamation points in this post?!?
I have to say, Miniature Market does an excellent job of packaging... the games were all wrapped in bubble wrap. Took me ten minutes just to get them out of the bubble wrap. And Santa, you said the elves didn't wrap the games!
By the way, I did have permission from my SS to open my gift early... I'll be seeing family at Thanksgiving AND Christmas, so we'll be playing them... plus, two of these play solo, so I can play them BEFOREHAND.
Thanks so much, Santa... I've had a rough week and this totally makes my day... week... month... year...

We arrived home today to find a box from Boards & Bits on our porch. "Ooh, my 7 Wonders perorder is here!" I thought. I cut the box open and started shifting the peanuts out of the way and immediately saw the words "Christmas" and "Santa."
I closed the flaps of the box back up quickly and said to my wife "Um...this isn't what I thought it was. It's my Secret Santa stuff." She looked at me and said "Do you want to open it? Should I put it away?" After a long brief pause I replied "Well, stash it in our room for now and I'll worry about it later." She asked if she could look and I said sure. I wanted to snap a picture of it to post here
Thankfully Unfortunately when she opened the box to take the note out for the picture, I saw the game on top. And once you see something, you can't un-see it. "I'm sorry! Should I still put it away?" "No, I've seen it so there's no point in hiding it away." She said there was more in the box and I asked her to wrap it for Christmas. At the moment I have a shiny new copy of The Climbers, which I'm pretty dang psyched about.
Thanks so much, Santa! I'm sure I'll love The Climbers and I can't wait to see what else there is. Kat said she thinks I'll like the other game and that she's heard me talk about it which unfortunately doesn't help narrow it down.
She apologized again for spoiling the surprise but really, how can I be upset? I got a new game that's been on my wishlist for months!
Update: It's fun!
Update: The second game was Taj Mahal! Thank you, Secret Santa!

Santa has been busy! I came home to a package on the porch. Completely not expecting a Secret Santa package so soon we opened it to find a card and 2 wrapped presents. The card did not say to wait until X-Mas so I opened them to find this and
Too generous, Santa, too generous.
BTW Santa, I took Lords of Vegas to my local game night and got to play it tonight. Great game! Thanx Santa! Now I just need to get through the MEQ rule book!

I came home from work to find two packages from my Secret Santa!
Not being able to resist (and thinking the "spilling water" trick wouldn't work two years in a row), I eagerly tore into them while our 1yo daughter sat on my lap.
My husband (woelf) and I are both a part of BGG. We have used his wishlist for games we want and my wishlist for games for our daughter.
We received THREE wonderful games- Dancing Eggs, Animal Upon Animal, and The Magic Labyrinth! Thank you, generous Secret Santa!
Our daughter enjoyed exploring the games almost as much as we did! She loved the brightly colored yellow eggs and promptly attempted to eat one (she also wanted Mommy to eat one). The other two games have pieces a little too small for her yet, so I guess we'll have to play them for her.
THANK YOU Secret Santa! You sure are quick!

My Santa did not say "baaah" humbug this year! I can't believe my present arrived before Thanksgiving!
Also included: Small World: Tales and Legends
Thanks, Santa! I can't wait to try them out.
P.S. For those of you keeping track, I'm normally a "wait for Christmas to open presents" kind of gal, but I really, really needed more empty boxes to send out auction items from Super Noah's Transplant Auction - CLOSED. Yeah, that's why I opened them...

My Secret Santa Is Awesome!...
... and FAST!
This morning I wrote song to my Secret Santa (in my profile). Santa must've heard me thinking good thoughts, because:
Today, I received a box from CoolStuff. I asked my husband if we were expecting something from them. He said, "No." So then I started wondering if maybe this was from my Secret Santa. So I opened the box...
...and immediately recognized 2 titles from my wish list sitting right on top!!
"Look what my Secret Santa got me!," I squealed excitedly to my husband and started doing a little dance. (I simply LOVE Carcassonne!)
As I pulled the two brand new Carcassonne expansions from the box, I saw peeking out from the peanuts, another game!
"Wow! There's another one!" I yelled as I dug into the peanuts! "My Secret Santa is so cool!" At this point, I was bouncing up and down with excitement as I pulled
from the box!
But that wasn't all.... As I pulled Vegas Showdown from amidst the pink styrofoam peanuts, I couldn't believe my senses, as I touched the cool shrinkwrap of yet another game!
"Honey, there's another one!" I screamed! "Oh my God! I can't believe it!"
And from the bottom of the box, I extracted
Thankyou, Thankyou, THANKYOU, Secret Santa! You are SOOOOOO AWESOME!!!!!
I have the BEST SECRET SANTA EVER!

Wow,
as I came home from work today I receivied a notification, that a parcel from amazon was waiting at my neighbour. "Great, my book delivery is already here" I thought. But as I unpacked the parcel I found a nice present from my Secret Santa.
I hope I can resist to open it until Christmas. Only 37 days to go. Must resist.
I will update this item when I unpack the gift.
Thanks Secret Santa, and
Merry Christmas
Update:
I unpacked my parcel and found a brand new version of Chaos in the Old world. My number 1 game in my wishlist.
Thanks Secret Santa.

Received a letter from Santa last night saying my gift was on the way, and today I got woken up by the postman! Received a decent-sized box, and somehow managed to wait an hour before I tore it open (cut my finger cutting the tape! Go me!).
There was a note on top saying that Santa went with games that he liked that he saw on my wishlist. That's right. GAMES. PLURAL.
At this point they're still sitting there wrapped, taunting me. I want to wait, but I also really, really don't want to... Santa even gave me permission to open them immediately!
Because my Santa is less than stealthy, I have a pretty good idea who he is. I specifically made my wishlist pretty large (106 items) and diverse, so Santa would have lots of choices. I like to think I have pretty diverse tastes in games. I like gateway games, heavier Euros, Ameritrash, wargames, some party games... and I had a selection of each on the list. I had hoped Santa would choose some of his (or her, although I'm pretty sure mine is a boy) personal favourites from the list, and it looks like he's done that! Combined with a not exactly stellar wrapping job on one of the gifts , I have a sneaking suspicion that my Christmas season will involve frakkin' Cylons!
There's 3 gifts in the box, and based on the shipping address, it looks like I should be thanking Tao
Tao Wong
Canada Vancouver British Columbia
for the small one. I was already a repeat customer, so even with the bad wrapping, I don't think that will change anytime soon!
Now, what to do about those gifts...
Most importantly, the box came with plenty of packing paper for my cat to play with.
SO CUTE.
You rule Santa!
Edit: Oh my... an hour after I posted this, we started having our first snowfall of the year. Well done, Santa. Well done.

2nd Edit: Okay, okay, I caved. A little bit. I decided to make peace with the great spirit of Compromise and open the little\bonus gift. And since I was doing that, I might as well open the gift whose identity I had already parsed. A rip in the wrapping right above the title has a way of ruining the surprise.
But I'm going to leave the last game until Christmas, or thereabouts, so it can continue to taunt me with hints about its identity, while I wonder at night just what games it is, and boy do I have my suspicions...
Anyways, I got:
Battlestar Galactica
Can't wait to try this out with friends and fellow fans of the show, while screaming at the frakkin' toasters and secretly plotting the demise of the humans.

Might have to wait until after Christmas though. (okay, maybe not. Played this weekend before last with the ghroup, and we really enjoyed it. Definitely won't be the last time.)
Also:
Genji
Which looks... interesting. Probably will get this played soon. (It's alright.)
One more to go!
3rd edit: Okay, so tonight I was wrapping my presents and I decided to open my last present so I could reuse the wrapping paper. Not like my family really cares what board games I get from strangers, right?
My suspicion based on the size of the box and the sheer amount of shakeable components inside was that it was Cosmic Encounter, or maybe Battlestar Galactica: Pegasus Expansion, Revolution!, or Memoir '44 (any of these would have been great). I definitely didn't expect it to be Twilight Imperium (third edition): Shattered Empire!!! I have to admit I squeeled a little when I opened it. Or maybe more than a little.
(not me)
Thanks so much Santa! You really picked the perfect gift with this one. Since I set up my wishlist for Xmas I've played regular TI3 with friends a couple times, and all of us are continually psyched for our next session. We'll be playing it regular for months now after this! I was planning on picking it up myself soon and now I can hardly wait to get this onto the table!!!!
Merry Christmas everyone!!!
My own SSing has hit some difficulties and it appears I won't make my delivery deadline but I've still had a blast this year and there's no doubt in my mind that I want to participate again.

I arrived home today to find out i have an amazingly efficient and thoughtful Secret Santa. There was a nice big box from BB. Santa did not ask that I wait till Xmas (which is a good thing cause i doubt I'd be able to wait over a month). Upon opening the box i found two of my most sought after games - Hansa Teutonica and Endeavor.
I can't thank you enough Secret Santa!!! You've made the start of this holiday season amazing!

I was getting dinner ready for the kids (and trying to get them to finish homework and take a nap before tonight) and noticed a package in the doorway. I didn't take much notice to it, but was wondering 'what am I waiting on? I think there's an auction I waiting for, but I thought I just sent payment. Man that was fast?!?
But, kept on with my work. After we finished eating, my middle child started helping the youngest with her home work????? 'OK' I'll not question that one.
So, I went to see what auction item had gotten to me. I picked it up to see 'I gift from your BGG Secret Santa. Enjoy!'
Wow, so I opened it up. And inside was Kreta.
This one has been on my wishlist for a long time. For some reason, I've just never committed to it. Partly I think because it's not a very common game. A printout of the English rules were also included, so I won't even have to track those down!
Also, under it laid a new board for Power Grid. Power Grid is one of the few games my son seems to really enjoy AND 'get'. This was the Power Grid: China/Korea and I've heard some good things about it. I'm sure this will get played very soon.
Thanks Secret Santa!

Oh and there was a 'spin 4 it' in there too.
Don't ya just love watching those things spin?

This is my very first year participating in the BGG Secret Santa Gift Exchange. I have been in the process of taunting my Secret Santa
victim target throughout the past week... having tons of fun partaking in this awesome event!
I spoiled my victim target and made a huge Thought Hammer purchase at the beginning of the week. I had all of this sent to me since I wanted to add even more to the gift (with goodies and extras) before sending the whole bundle on my sleigh!
A box arrived today and I thought the size of the parcel was a little suspicious, but I didn't question the wonderful people at Thought Hammer who have always done a superb job packing all my orders in the past - very compact and well protected.
Upon opening the box and pulling out the invoice, I thought to myself, "This isn't at all what I ordered!!!".
Nope, it wasn't... these were MY gifts from my Secret Santa! Boy was I surprised!!! Inside the box were both Forbidden Island and Dungeon Twister: Paladins & Dragons!!!
So, Christmas came early this year... thanks to my Secret Santa from Italy!!
THANKS SECRET SANTA!!!

This is my first Secret Santa - so far had fun taunting my target but hadn't heard anything from my Santa. I needn't have been concerned because my local courier turned up today with a parcel from the local game store.
But WAIT - I hadn't ordered anything, so you know what that means!!!!
The box was very heavy, probably the heaviest game box I've come across so this was very intriguing.
So after a small debate with partner about waiting until Christmas to open presents I tore the wrapping off to uncover:
I guess all those plastic trains weigh a bit!! - correction, just opened box, it's that HUGE map!
Needless to say I'm VERY happy with the choice - thank you Secret Santa!!!!!
UPDATE - a few days later ANOTHER wrapped present arrived from my Secret Santa!
Might have to break open Power Grid from its slumber now! Thank you SS!!

I love Secret Santa!!!
I came home after a horrible day at work to find a parcel on my step. I thought it was my order from my FOGS, but even better, it was my BGG Secret Santa!
In order to make sure that I clear these off of my wishlist for my wife and other people, (yeah sure, its really to get to play new games ) I unwrapped and checked out the contents
Power $truggle!! Awesome as well as Summoner Wars: Guild Dwarves vs Cave Goblins and Stack Market (This last one wasn't even on my wishlist, so it must be something Santa wants me to see, which is awesome!!!
Thanks Santa, you Rock!
