So I was finally able to find my converter and upload my photos from opening my 2010 Secret Santa gifts. Since my Secret Santa was the bestest ever I thought he deserved an entire geeklist about our opening day rather than just a single geeklist entry.

Thanks again Santa! You are awesome.

I woke up early (2 pm, I work 3rd shift) and had this strange feeling that something was waiting for me. I ventured downstairs and found a large, heavy box on my front porch! I new instantly what it was and would have torn into it right away except one thing. Santa made me promise not to open it unless Jessica (my fiancee) and The Dude (my dog) were both present. Blast! I had to wait until later that night when Jessica came over to get down to business. I put the box on the table and ignored my twitching fingers: it would have to wait. Wish I could have gone back to sleep but I was too darn excited. Instead, Jessica and I went to the gym, and afterwards came back to my house for an early Christmas!

We pulled out all the gifts and stacked them up. They were wrapped so nicely! We also noticed how many of them there were, wow! Several were addressed to me, several to Jessica, and several to both of us! Amazing that my SS gave presents to Jessica as well. There was even one in there for the Dude! I started to reach for the presents when The Dude came over and plopped himself down and stared at me as if to say, "Even though I get one too, its just not right to open presents before Christmas!"

I was devastated. I didn't know what to say to him, until I found a letter in the bottom of the box.

I showed him the last line that says to open it right now. He quickly relented and we chose his gift as the first to open.

We opened the Dude's gift and lo and behold, some lovely organic doggy biscuits were staring back at us. They looked so good, at first I thought they were people cookies!

I think The Dude was still a bit embarrassed at being wrong about not opening the gifts.

After opening them up though he couldn't resist. He loved them so much!

Spoiler (mouseover to reveal):
Yes, I tried them. They taste like graham crackers with sugar frosting.

Next up was Jessica. She grabbed some of her gifts and tore into them with a ferocity I never knew she had. Inside she found two movies: Elf and a Fireplace DVD!

But that wasn't all! A few more shreds of paper later and she opened over 200 games at once!

She started reading up on how to beat me at any number of card games right away. I had to beg her to stop so we could open our joint gifts.

Two games: one incredibly cutthroat and one a co-op?!? Mixed signals were flying all over the place. You can tell by the look on her face that Jessica was being tormented by thoughts of brutally demolishing me and having to help me win at the same time. What to do!? Thankfully she agreed to decide later whether she liked the idea of playing together or playing against each other more so that I could get to my gifts.

Spoiler (mouseover to reveal):
If you're wondering, she decided she likes playing against each other much more.

Also included was the 2 expansions for Jambo! This was great since Jambo is one of our favorite games to play together. We usually take it to a coffee shop and play. Thanks!

Wow was I excited. I had 2 big boxes and a small box yet to be opened. I went with the small box first.

Excellent! I love cordial cherries. I was going to eat them right there when Jessica reminded me you need to take them out of the box first. Feeling that would take longer than I wanted to wait right then, I put them down and opened the next box instead.

!

This was awesome! I love Knizias and don't care if the themes are dry or pasted on. Jess and I had just gotten to play this a short time ago at the Minneapolis Board Game Marathon and she suggested buying it because she liked it so much. In fact, we bought a copy for her mom to give to a cousin. It was the last copy in the store so we couldn't get one for us too. Perfect solution! Jessica even took this copy with her to play over this week with her family in Illinois (I couldn't go because I have to work cry)

One more box to go still. Phew, I was getting tired at this point but nothing was gonna stop me. I opened up a new copy of:

and quickly did my best impression of the guy on the box cover. Pretty good right? This is a great addition to my collection and I've been able to play it several times already. I'm hoping to bring it home next week and teach it to the family.

Sometimes when I talk about BGG people think I'm a little weird; but I've never had anyone not say "Wow, that is really cool" when I tell them about the generous things BGG users are known for doing. Secret Santa is wonderful, and my experience this year will be hard to beat!

Great photo set, I enjoyed them, and the looks of happiness you all share! Especially the Dude, who tried so hard not to look to sheepish about being wrong.
