My future wife and I have been dusting off a lot of my boardgames in the last few months. This is just a list of what we've been playing, what she's been enjoying, what's she's been tolerating, and what she's been straight up HATING...

This is probably the most played game in our collection right now. It's really quick to setup, really portable, and playable in under an hour. We've had many tense games with the eight available factions so far. She's hung up on the Phoenix Elves, though. And to be honest, Prince Elian Rodriguez' ranged special ability is really tough to get around. But get around it I do (once in a while). We both can't wait for the Master Set to come out. It'll add another six factions to the seven I use to try to beat her Phoenix Elves down with.

We've played more games of this in the last few days than anything else in our collection. She broke into the deck-building genre with Ascension, and this was just such an easy one to pick up after that. We're waiting on the Intrigue set just to see how much more mischief she can wreak on me. She does like the Militia card in the base set for some odd reason...

And it wasn't exactly unexpected. I have something like 120 games, and I think we've found maybe 4 that she actually likes. They're *very* few and far between.

One of the faves of my girlfriend and I too, and definitely the card game "gateway" for her. We've played it dozens of times now and it got a bit stale after that many plays(though still a great game for sure), though we are very eagerly awaiting the expansion and expect to play dozens of more times once it hits.

My wife has beaten me every time we've played this. Sometimes it's close, sometimes its not. She plays a lot of conventional card games, and those skills definitely carry over! Fortunately, it's a game I love to lose!

This was a fail. After a promising first game the other night, this night's attempt ended in a lot of head-shaking and frustration. Something about the turn order really turned her off this one. That and she felt like the game hammered us a little too hard. In all honesty, I think it might have had something to do with the fact that her Dwarven Cleric kept on soaking up most of the hits in the game...

And I guess, just like life before her, there's always solitaire play.

I was really surprised but this was my wife's favorite game and requests for it often.

The game beats you pretty hard so I tried a couple things:

1) Don't draw an extra encounter with black triangle tiles

or

2) As long as you attack something you don't draw an encounter

We played with these variations a couple times and it really got her into the game. After a couple games we went back to the original rules because it became too easy. It's always a close game and we really enjoy it!

Oh, I forgot to mention that I bought the 2 pack of CR and WoA which added some great new elements that has has kept the game fresh. I wish it added more for the money though.
