D) For no purpose other than pure enjoyment.

(Okay, maybe I'm reading into the picture a bit, but that's how I see it).

Believe you ME, that wasn't easy. Especially when I was the one who had to set it up. Plus there also was a slight chance we may have misplayed some of the rules. Hell, who am I kidding, even when we're sober we misplay some of the rules

I dunno, I think we should seriously persue this. Everyone lookin' classy -- its bound to reduce the existance of 'that smelly guy', and 'the guy that picks his nose and then wipes it on your pieces' .. although, only just barely.. because, you know, it's one thing to pick your nose, and its another thing to pick your nose in a tuxedo.

..where was I again?

Always wanted to change that tablecloth to all black, for better picture taking, but you never know when a massive group game of Checkers needs to be played. Better safe than sorry!

Kind of what I was thinking. You'd see a heck of a lot less of all those types that repeatedly get blasted on geeklists - the smelly guy, the guy who kicks his rotting sneakers off every game, the kids playing Yu-Gi-Oh who haven't brushed their teeth since Clinton, the absolute jerks, etc.

Better yet. Charge $1000 a head, like a fancy charity dinner...

Okay maybe not that. But certainly a strict dress code would help a lot.

Black Tie Dude #1: "Pardon me kindly sir, can I interest you in a game of Carcassonne?"

Black Tie Dude #2: (sipping his 1996 Chteau Lafite Rothschild Pauillac wine) "Why, that would be the tops! Shall we game, good man?"

Black Tie Dude #1: "Indeed, we shall! Let us adjurn to the 2nd floor balcony and have us a go!"

Black Tie Dude #2: "Splendid!!"

Metallica Shirt Wearing Guy: "Screw this, I'm grabbing a case of Bud and heading back to my basement for some Doom"

I do believe that I will set up a black-tie gaming event, at some point in time, here in Toronto.

Champagne! Settlers! Silks! Tigris and Euphrates! Cumberbuns! Memoir '44! Cuban Cigars! Caylus! Pomp! Puerto Rico! Circumstance!

Ah yes, excellent. Over 21s only. No foul odors admitted.

Hmmmm.... actually, upon re-reading, it occurs to me that someone unfamiliar with the Descent boardgame might actually take this a completely different way. It actually could work - or might get you a knee in the groin.

Yes, but including that in your pick-up line increases your chances of "knee in the groin" by about 68%

Huh, after my proms I went bowling one year, and to Rocky Horror the next. No boardgames.

Maybe it's after a wedding?

You got it, it was after a wedding, we bugged out sometime after dinner and sometime before the chicken dance, and got down to the important stuff. Gaming.
