Also, why is there a game on a beach? Wouldn't that just get everything all sandy and ruined?

We went to beach and took games with us. Well, the game did got some sand on it, but it is so dry outside, so no problem.

Hehe...I thought the same thing, too. I've tried to get better about my compulsion to keep my games pristine, but I still eyeball each player and twitch a little if they hold my cards in an unsatisfactory manner.

Since my students (4th graders) know I love all kinds of games, they bring in their Yu-Gi-Oh cards to show me. I have to bite my tongue when they pull them out of their filthy pocketses all bent up and tattered.

My office is a mess, yet I can't handle it if some game tokens are rattling around in their box and not secured in a zip lock bag. Go figure.

Ok, if you are going to submit so many photos, let’s get them right.

The exposure is a bit off. The sun is coming from behind your model, so the game box is shaded. You should have taken the light meter reading from the box so you would have proper exposure of the box. This would also have brightened your models face. The image could be sharper, I'm guessing the camera was hand held, use a tripod in the future. I also recommend using a circular polarizing filter to remove some of the background glare and blue-up the sky.

Other than the boring "pretty girl with a box" bit, it is not clear what concept you are expressing with this game choice. Next time choose a game that has some relationship to the composition of the photo; possibly has some clever beach connection, or maybe a startling juxtaposition of some sort.

This is very valid photo critique.

I wouldn't expect binraix to go so far as have a light meter, but the box cover (which is the ONLY boardgame-related element in the shot) IS dark and not clear.

It'd be nice to see you bring more creative composition and connection between your photos and the boardgames you play, Raiko.

(an example would be playing Through the Desert at the beach, etc)

I'm just hoping you step up to the more-creative photo challenge and improve your photography, instead of letting the tired complaints be accurate about your photos.
I think you have it in you, from the excellence you describe in your profile.

Actually, if you meter off the box, the entire background will be blown out to sh&*%. Better to add some nice softbox fill flash (or reflector), and maybe even a couple levels of ND Filters, for some nice shallow DoF effects. This would work...

Great tips for a horrid photo. My six year old neighbour knows not to stand with her face in shadow in order to have her picture taken.

Or the tree will eventually be made into a pencil that someone else might use to keep score in some game maybe someday.
I disagree. Everybody pays so much attention to these posts that there will eventually be a Agnes Microbadge. Better yet, we should just make a "I thumb images that have girls in them" Microbadge! And then, maybe we'll consider why we visit BGG in the first place, and stop giving so much attention to pictures of women that happen to have a board game in the frame.

LOL, I'm sure there are a lot of 6 year olds that could take better camera shots than me in the same way that if you give enough monkeys a camera you'll get some pretty good photos... after you wipe off the excrement.

It is true that an easy way to fix the shadow problem would be to turn the model, but then it isn't the same shot. I'm operating under the following assumptions: (1) that is the background they want, and (2) they don't want to wait around for the sun to move. So, if that is the case, then you have to work with the shadow.

Metering on the box might possibly blow out the background, but some of the background brightness appears to be glare, which the polarizing filter may help. However, in retrospect, using a flash as suggested by Edward is probably the easiest solution. You might also be able to use a reflector to reflect sun on the front of the model. In addition, the relative contrast is not so high that you couldn't just fix this with Photoshop, even if the original image was a jpg.

Hey, we don't come here to be enlightened on the finer points of photography.

We come to discuss board games.

...and look at a girl or two.

See how easy it is to "abuse" BGG and head off into your own agenda? Start a thread, have a photo-geek-gasm with each other, and don't go into threads that you don't like. At least binraix and Lillygirl aren't giving an unsolicited lecture on top of their "off-topic" posts. Good grief.
