I know the scene is posed/totally staged, but it is still awesome.
I love the lighting with the horrible yellow overtone that makes it feel like the morning after.
I love the composition with the empty immediate foreground and the frame of bottles and people... and that jester tapestry in the background hung upside down just gives it a subliminal air of chaos aside from the strewn empty bottles.
The people posing are a riot. The guy on the left looks like a friend of mine, and his staring into the empty glass like he's worried about a dropping of ashes, or a floating bug, or just that he can't believe the glass is empty after he swears he just filled it!
The woman on the right looking like she's getting another nicotine hit after several, as if this game requires extra concentration. Yet she's got a blank look on her face as if she realizes something about her previous or next move that is going to destroy her opponents.
And the guy in the background in that drunken haze, unable to concentrate, but for whatever reason feels that he has to pay attention really hard to make sure that he plays correctly or be made a fool of, or worse yet, make such an obviously stupid move that he will lose if he plays this very turn incorrectly.
And the very little things that you only knotice by looking into the picture... like the abandoned chicken upside down in the empty glass. The guy on the left holding an unlit cigarette while he's got another in his lips. What son his mind? The woman on the right lighting a cigarette while there is an almost full one in the peanut tray... or is that an asstray with peanuts in it?
This picture makes me wonder what is going on with the person who is taking the photo?
