Sandra Oh - of Sideways and Gray's Anatomy fame - was on Jimmy Kimmel last month talking about her obsession with Settlers of Catan and how the expansions changed that...
She starts talking about the game perhaps five minutes into the video.
Mayfair might be saddened by the lack of a reaction from fans when she said the game's name. Sheesh! You can say practically anything on one of those shows and get some whoop-whoops.
Wow she is a really, really boring interview. Mayfair would be happy I'd assume at just how into the game she is... until she makes it sound like the worst game of all time.
Whenever I see her, I think of that climactic (perhaps that's a bad choice of words) scene in Sideways. I still can't decide if that is one of the greatest, or one of the most horrific scenes in cinematic history. Actually, it's both. I remember laughing so hard that I actually began to have difficulty breathing. I also remember hating myself for laughing rather than, say, running from the room.

Become unwatchable? It has been unwatchable from the beginning. Anything Kimmel has been involved has been unwatchable from the get go.
After about a year's break we could finally play regular Settlers again. I've since sold off the expansion and we decided to stick to what we love...Basic Settlers!
I don't get it. There was time I was also obsessed with Settlers of Catan and we played it a lot. My first reaction to C&K expansion was also negative, but that did not traumatize me that I cannot play the basic game again. Just put the expansion aside and return to the game that you like. Where's the drama?
P.S. I play C&K now and like them. But I started when it was over a year since I played it for the first time.
Personally, I'm still trying to figure out which two-player variant of Settlers she is playing with Thomas Haden Church in Sideways. It's only on the shot for a second or two...
