Hey, Microsoft is holding a vote on the best Xbox Live Arcade games for 2007. (It ends January 30.) Carcassonne is up for voting in a couple different categories. If you're a fan of the Xbox version, you might want to vote for it and show your support.

I whish they would have a PC release/download for this XBox 360 boasts the begining of a merge between PC and Console gamers. I think the market for PC Carcassonne would be bigger than they expect.

I played the XBox version at a friends house and really enjoyed it. I never played the game before then. It inspired me to buy the game and a bunch of expantions.

See boardgames crossing platforms there's our economy stimulus right there!

The biggest problem I have with the xbox version is that there is to much stuff on the screen to clearly see things. Because of that its hard to see the farms. On the pc version if you hover over a farm it highlights the farms area and tells you how many and who the farmers are.

One other thing I don't like about the xbox version is that it shows you the only spots where the tile will fit. That has made me lazy and less sharp in my game.

A positive of the xbox version is that it was flashy and simple enough to get my wife interested and she plays with me. Plus while not as good as a board game for interaction at least we sit together on the couch and are looking at the same board (TV). If we played on the PC we'd need to play on separate computers.

A little discussed trick is to hit the Back button on the controller to get a 'plain' view where you can strategize. It includes a basic farmer count, but don't use that feature on someone else's turn if you're playing online ( as opposed to local multiplayer ) - there is a known bug that will lock the console solid.

I've found just the opposite - the quick games have let me practice tile placement and tactics many more times than the actual boardgame ( setup, drawing, waiting for the other player, scoring, etc. ) could allow.

Ahh, but you can play quick games on the asobrain link from above and not have it tell you where the tile will fit. Also even on Expert the xbox AI is easy to beat. I do like the xbox version for playing against my wife, she likes to be told where the tile will fit.
