Dear game designers,
I am a recent grad from college with majors in graphic design and fine art. I am really interested in helping design and illustrate a new board or card game. If there are any game designers out there who need an artist to bring their game to life I would love to have the opportunity to work with you. Also if anyone wants to check out my online portfolio and give me some feedback they can check out my website and my online portfolio at alexgjones.blogspot.com
so let me know what you think of my work and if you need a artist for your new game ideas.
Starving Artist,
Alex Jones

You should update your profile to include your website, and maybe put a little info about your skills in your profile text.
Just a thought...

Hello Alex.
Our website, www.diycardgames.com is attracting talented artists, editors, and play testers to work with games designers to produce 'print and play' games. We will also market the games and can display portfolio work of each artist on our team.
Artists will be compensated on the back-end from sale revenue coordinated by www.diycardgames.com.
And a tip for your success, refer yourself as a 'talented', 'gifted' or 'whatever sounds really good and successful to you' artist because that is what you really are.
Follow your dreams!

Hi!
Would love to see more of your work than just studies. If you do graphic design, you may want to do a few designs and put them up. A common place for graphic designers to get a start is indie CD covers, you might want to check out some small scale music producers and see if you can build up your portfolio and experience that way as well.
It looks like you've got some solid basics, but the thing that will make you last longer in the market is versatility. Look at Josh Cappel's work, for example (co-designer of and graphic designer for Wasabi!). He does everything: illustration, layout, you name it. He did Z-Man's most recent catalogue. I don't like to say that I irrationally like absolutely love everything that a certain person does, but when it comes to game graphic design Mike Doyle ( http://mdoyle.blogspot.com/) is a guy I certainly respect. These people who make games graphic design a major part of their work are worth a study.
You can also try flexing your own game design muscles at www.bgdf.com - the Board Game Designers' Forum. It seems that several graphic designers are making their own games, Josh does his own art, Duel in the Dark designer Friedemann de Pedro is a graphic designer... heck, I'm not a graphic designer and I did the art and design for all the cards in my game as well as the gamebox top. Seems to be that will be a useful dual skillset to break into the modern hobby games market.
Best of luck!
