There's lots of board games in the app store, but I can't wade through all the traditional games to find the good ones. Sure there's Scrabble and Chess. These are good games. But are there any Euro games, or original games with Euro-like quality?
In particular, are there any games you can play over the internet (ala BSW)?

I've been trying to keep track of the various iPhone threads and posts here on BGG and tagged them all appropriately - if you click the iPhone tag link you should find a lot of posts about iPhone related items and board game versions you can get.

I have zooloretto and it's pretty. Maybe a little easy but good.
There are some good Go apps out there also.

edit: I almost forgot that Settlers is coming out for the iPod. I'm really looking forward to that one too.

Zooloretto is fun, moderately challenging, and has an extremely well done interface. It has a minor bug right now with the polar bear expansion, but honestly is well worth the money.
Kolonists is a settlers- like clone with am important variation of no dice. It actually plays like a variant of Settlers of Catan, and I enjoy it a great deal.
There's also one that's reportedly a clone if Hive. But I haven't played the iPhone game or Hive, so I can't give worthwhile feedback.
Those are the two Euro-style games that I've found. Of coursectgere a plenty of othello games, risk games, and scrabble games to choose from, too.

Lux Touch is a Risk clone. Its paid version, Lux Delux, has many more maps and options.

What an excellent idea to steal. I'll make sure to start tagging all threads realating to Android. Shouldn't be too much to catch up with on that platform so far.

Just getting into the iPhone game apps and got Zooloretto. Nice implementation though I am aware of the bugs.
Was wondering if anyone could advise for or against Kolonists? Thanks!

I love Kolonists now that they have ironed out the bugs! It has a few specific rules, for example you don't have to roll a dice. I hate dice. Resources instead comes from the areas where you have placed a worker (one for farms, two for villas, as they are called in Kolonists).
It's a great game with very nice background music.

Also, take a look at Kibosh, a nice Blokus clone with optional additional rules.
Then there's Words with Friends, an excellent online Scrabble-game that you can play at your own pace. If anyone wants to play Words with Friends with me my username is "Liljeberg".

Oh man, I've discovered iPhone games and I'm getting worried, Here's what I got so far:
Zooloretto - love it Croke - love it Wurdle - love it 7 Cities - haven't played yet Flight Control (I can't stop myself!) Zombie - meh Kolonists - buying now
So what's the recommendation for - a dungeon crawler? - a tilt game?

Doom Resurrection is rather spiffy.

Thanks for the help. (I am actually the OP; I was signed in under the wrong account.)
I got Bloxor, Uniwar, and Kolonists.
None of these were exactly what I was looking for.
Bloxor is awesome. It's a puzzle/dexterity game where you tilt the iPhone to slide blocks around various obstacles. I beat the 72 levels in a total of about 17 hours. Lots of challenging puzzles, and a variety of different strategies needed. However, it is not a board game really, and it is single player by nature. Lots of fun, although not what I was looking for.
Uniwar is a lot of what I was looking for. It has multiplayer online (also single player vs. AI and hotseat, although I didn't try the last). It is a turn-based war strategy game. It resembles Starcraft a lot, except it's turn-based instead of real-time (which I think is an improvement). It's almost exactly what I asked for, but I would say it falls slightly short of being a board game. It's kind of halfway between a board game on computer and a full-on computer game. The reason is, in a board game, they tell you all the rules. Most of the rules are explained in Uniwar, but at least I never found a clear definition of how maximum movement range is calculated. There is some vague description of how damage is calculated, but certainly no formula is given. Terrain has some effect on damage, but they don't even describe in detail which terrains have the strongest to weakest bonuses. I liked it, but not enough to get into online play seriously.
Kolonists is a good board game. It's a variant of Settlers, but strategy is pretty different as you get to pick which resources will pay out for your settlements each round, and all hexes pay out equally, instead of having more and less productive ones. The only problem is, it seems the only mode is vs. AI. At least I couldn't figure out how to launch any other mode. Online play would be best, but how about at least a hotseat mode. Also, the AI is not too strong. I beat it the first time, and 4/5 times total. Well-produced app, and a good Euro game, but not challenging enough.

What is "hotseat"?

Players take turns by handing off the computer (in the old days of desktops, getting up out of the seat and letting the next player sit down).

Civilization Revolution has just been released, only about an hour in to my first game so far, but it is very nice, similar to Civ1, in presentation, but I never played any of the newer versions. I got it for £2.99 (48hour Sale), but it has now gone up to £5.99.

I would suggest Rogue Touch. I think there is a lite version of it that you can try.

I second the recommendation for Croke. Very nice little crokinole app. Play single-player against the app, or against others either locally or online. Only tried single-player as yet...

Archon is available.
This is a hybrid boardgame/action.
It is a "Chess" game where you actually fight it out with the piece you are attacking. Is an iPhone cover of an old game I used to play on the Atari. Quite fun.
