I've been using it for a day(when my wife actually puts it down for 2 minutes). And I must tell you, this is the coolest thing ever.

You know, Apple bills this as a "magical and revolutionary product," and I must now concede that it is. Having a Win7 netbook and an iPhone 3G, I really thought I could skip the iPad. Then, I got my hands on one at the Apple store last night. I must have it. Now that is what I call magic!
I don't have one yet, but I think a good .cbr reader will be a must for me, when I get one. Soon.

The kindle app is really nice if you have a kindle account. I still am gonna keep my kindle, though.
Plants vs. Zombies is killer (better than the iPhone version)
Tichu Tracker if you play tichu (it's in 2x iphone mode, but okay that way)
Sundry Notes is what I use in meetings to take notes now.
Netflix on the iPad rocks.
Mu has been optimized for iPad and looks and plays amazing.
Scrabble with the iphone/ipod touch tile racks is really cool.
Zen Bound 2 is a very strange yet compelling game/activity.

That's what I thought, exactly. A cool toy. Definitely not something I want or need.

Hahaha, the first thing I must have is the iPad, but since mine isn't shipping until the 7th, I am screwed.

I have it. It's, um, not that great. It's definitely something to play, however, and I'm all about finding things to play. The same day I downloaded that game, I downloaded the little "Haunted Mansion" puzzle game, and I've gotten way more play out of that, but mostly because the vast majority of the "hot spots" don't register the first 830000 times you touch them.

Oh yeah, I forgot to mention that I like the Marvel app--even on my iPhone it's fun to use. I look forward to it on the iPad.

The NPR App is really good.
I'd skip Numbers and Pages, as you can't really get real work done on them, they are great for quick formulas or spreadsheets, but there are currently a lot of missing features.
I used pages once to type a blog post while on the road, but really, I could have done that in Notes and done the transfer too.
Good reader is great. I'm carrying so many RPG books in there it's pretty amazing.
Also, Small World is quite good and very fun. My daughter and I are also getting some use out of Boardbox for playing go on the 9x9 board.

Yes. Buy a secondary computer, and then get all new apps for it that will never be as good as your normal apps, will never have flash, and won't fit in your pocket. Oh, and it also can't work like a cell phone unless you use skype or whatever. And then buy a bunch of games for it so you can justify spending $500-$800 to play a $30 board game.
:golf clap: for Steve Jobs.

Michael, the people that are down on it are just always going to be down on it, and apparently no amount of enthusiasm from those of us that either have one or want one will ever overcome their willingness to naysay. What people fail to understand, perhaps, is that when something better comes along, we'll just buy that, too. Because unlike these impoverished bastards, we can pretty much just buy anything we like, whenever we like, because we are made of money, and the petty concerns of the lower classes just don't apply here, in this thread.

I wasn't quite one of those guys, but was in the "I don't need it" camp*. Until I saw one IRL. Man, do I want one now!
*Okay, I realize that I still don't need it, but I really want it.

Planning to get my iPad either when they are released here in Canada at the end of May, or perhaps a week or two earlier if a business trip down to Houston pans out. I've been doing a bunch of research already and making a list of apps I want to get, so I will put some here...
Boardgames: Small World - $5, 2 player only Carcassonne - recently announced. Comes out in May. Buy it when it comes out for $5, then you get a free iPad version when it comes out later (regular price is $10, will go up once iPad version comes out so buy early if you are going to get it) Reiner Knizi's Keltis Oracle - $5, and has AI play
Other games: Dungeon Hunter HD Godfinger Angry Birds Aurora Feint 3 Party Place - Marble Mixer - on sale 60% off $1.99 Battle for Wesnoth HD - on sale 80% off - $0.99 Harbor Master - free
Apps: NHL Ice Time - Free ESPN 2010 World Cup - Free epicurious - Free Star Walk NYT - Free Gilt - free (for the wife) Weather bug elite - how cool is this for a free weather app GoodReader - as mentioned above, supposed to be awesome Adobe ideas - free
As soon as I saw this thread I knew there would be a bunch of 'wahh iPad sucks' posts. There are a gazillion places to moan about the iPad. Hopefully no more in this thread. I'm looking forward to any other ideas for apps or games that any other BGGers have!
