How are our little ones faring? All still well? Or have we lost half of them? Which would be
a shame fun.

I'm about halfway through the year, sorry it's taking so long!

I think I've only lost one person, but there are some babies with broken bones, not sure if they're going to make it.

By the way, if you could give me some tips of getting rid of caged beasts I would appreciate it. So far I've only managed to set them free...after several attempts and several disasters I'm about to give up on trying.
This game is really hard for me when the wiki is down, haha.

It depends on what you want to do with them.
If they are still armed then disarm them. Do this by claiming their items: d-b-c (selecht the tile with the cage on the stockpile) Then mark them for dump: d-b-d Then press 'k', seleckt the cage and remove the dumb command from the cage alone. Then the victim will be stripped.
Then you can either place the cage somewhere by building it or assigining the beasts to a pit. If you choose the pit let the dwarf be escorted by the military. Otherwise link the built cage to a lever and place the military next to it and then pull the lever.
If you push monsters in out pit (the bridge to the outside world in the tunnel) they will most likely die from the impact.

Yes, I'm sorry, the holidays have stolen all my time. I may just upload the file tonight and do the story later.

Oh Dwarf where art thou?

Since we have no progress here for over two months I would say that someone else takes over. Any volunteers?

I'm trying to drum up some interest in people continuing this epic tale! If anyone wants to take another turn, let us know!
Shatner, I'm looking at you

The (new) player then also has the opportunity to update to 31.19! What an honor!

Oh lordy,
I have even less spare time than when I didn't write up a review at all. I'll remain in the audience for now :)

Hey guys, I just found this thread the other day and really enjoyed reading it.
Thanks for the fun.

Well, I think it is about time Bristledlenses had a little "accident" to finsh the story, don't you agree?

I'm totally okay with that.
Afterward maybe this group can find some other game (that's a little less daunting) that we can do a succession game on.

Sounds good. I'd say go for it Dreamteam!

Sorry, I tried launching a 7 dwarf expedition on my own and couldn't even remember how to give the most basic commands. I don't think I have the patience to learn it all again, truthfully. As I said in my review, the interface is a game killer for me. But I'd like to read what happens....
Maybe a few helpful ideas for whomever feels up to the task:

There was some wicked stuff in that cave.
And don't feel bad, the interface is the exact reason I can't take a second turn either.

I am okay with that. I could do that last turn. But earliest would be tuesday. Newer versions Need New Games anyway.
Ps: stupid iPod Auto replace Feature.

I tried to create a "last stand" session report but there was just too much going on as that I could have written something interesting. So this is what happened:
First I dug deeper and deeper into the vein we already found. This of course was "too deep" after a while. I sent the troops down as fast as possible and Livinius and his men were the first to arrive. They even managed to kill some. A total of thirty demons went down IIRC.
But then everything went to hell and our forces were overrun. Most of them died by the sheer number of small wounds they received while doding fire balls and acid spray. Of course the rest of the fortress fell within minutes. No one was spared. Not even the children or the poor guy who was lying in the hospital since day one.
But we got a wave of new immigrants during the battle. And yes, they didn't survive. One of our dwarves even made it to and became a ghost! Yay!
If anyone is interested in the savegame so he can go on adventures, say so. I have it saved.

Ah that was the end of Bristledlenses. So long brave dwarves, it was good knowing (playing with) you.
Thanks for finishing this adventure Harlekin.

I tried to create a ingame-video but since the battles took place in about 20 z-layers at once it was hard to get something sensible. Perhaps I will redo that part and find another way to give it some more credit.
Perhaps create a combat room and then wait for the demons there so it is easier to capture. I also waited a bit too long so a lot of combat reports of "important" dwarves were already gone. So I didn't see how any dwarf died except Livinus. And he really killed a lot of demons. Mostly Salt demons but still demons.
Regarding a new session I will wait until the next big thing gets released. The whole curse thing sounds interesting. Then create a new world and do something more specific. Like living only overground and do just some digging downwards for some metal. Human style.
