The UCSD Darkstar club generally has gaming two Sundays a month (although the web page still says Saturdays). May be between quarters at the moment.

There are additional opportunities for CCGs, miniatures, historical wargames, etc. and the game stores that the SDGamers meet at.

What part of San Diego are you moving to?

Probably some place in North County. I haven't decided which neighborhood I want to live in (and more importantly can afford to live in). I'll be working in the Del Mar area, so likely somewhere in that vicinity.

Gidday all,
I am too moving to SD, and am intrested in finding out where the best stores are to buy games, I am moving over from Australia to Carlsbad for a year, and thought it an ideal time to stock up on games, as generally they are at least double the price here. If anyone has some info on where to shop, it would be appreciated, I wouldnt mind getting together with a group for game once were settled in too.

Amazing. I am also likely moving to San Diego soon. I suppose I'll need to look for some gaming action. If anybody has any advice on where to live (or, probably more importantly, where not to live), I will gladly listen.

Hi Scott,
Well i am off to Carlsbad, which is about 30 minutes north, but can be a bit of a bind traffic wise on 5. I will be working in Oceanside though so against the rushhour traffic. I know very little about SD since i am from Australia, only that the zoo will be probably too noisy at night.
Maybe get to seeya for a games nite/afternoon some day. Good luck with the move!

I've lived in the San Diego area all my life, Carlsbad for eight years now. Welcome to our little town!
Pair-a-Dice games is the closest game store, and they have a pretty good selection and get the new games right away. Game Empire is a little further south and probably has a slightly larger selection.

Hi all. I've got a large group which plays every Tuesday and often on the weekend. If anyone lives in North County, I've got a big house and a well appointed war room. Feel free to drop me an e-mail.

Hello Lee!
I just joined the sdgamers mailing list and saw that you made it down there last night, good job! Unfortunately I had to watch the kids and help out with math homework.
Pair-a-Dice is off the 78, see http:/ www.gamecove.com, click on the Directions button.

Yeah had a great night, the in-laws arrived from NZ on monday so have extra baby sitters now, thus freeing up my tues to go down to SD.
I will go out and have a look at pair-of-dice, maybe we can catch up for a game sometime up this end of town. I see you have memoir 44, game i have been eying up for a while, my collection is quite meagre, in fact i only bought 70% of my games last month on my arrival here in the states. too expensive back home, i intend to stock up large before i head back.

Lots of different stuff though always in the "wargame" category. This week, we started a game of Conquistador and we played Barbarian, Kingdom and Empire the week before. Before that, we spent three Tuesdays on Pax Britannica.
Basically colorful, multi-player games although we've also tried out a few straight counterpushers.
Where are you and what do you play?

Anybody know how up-to-date any of this info is? I make it to SD on business a lot, and I have a buddy there who needs a Euro group.

I can vouch for the first three of them. The others I don't really know too much about. I'll add a last updated section to the top post.

You can remove this entry. San Diego Board Gamers moved from meetup.com to smartgroups.com when meetup started asking for fees. Also, since the Otherside is now open until 11:00p every day, the meetings go until then.

Hi Alex (?)
Please do my group a favor and remove the message above that says we're dying. I don't know why you wrote that we are "partially defunct", but as a regular member myself I can tell you that we have been meeting very regularly, and in good numbers, since early September 2004.
If a new person saw your message, they might think "why bother with a partially defunct group", and not even show up.
Thanks for your attention. By the way, another update: The Other Side Coffee House informed us just last night that they have changed their hours again, so our schedule 1 above (1st, 3rd, 5th Thu) is now 7pm to midnight.
Thanks again.
