For this story I used the world generated by the succession game which we run here on this site and tried to get into our fortress with this adventurer.

I ignored all options about quests and companions the new Adventure Mode of Dwarf Fortress offers and went straight to the fortress.

So this is the story of Sitsu Mightymostened, whi later was known as the Decisive Forge of Rope for his brave deeds against the goblins.

He was born in the year 977 and he was 31 years old when his adventure began. He ventured to the fortress encountering goblins of the "Lies of Rancor". But read for yourself: (and excuse my bad english, has been a while)

Sitsu Mightymoistened reached the Plains of Gorging after a six day travel through the wilds, sleeping alone each night, cuddled close to the camp fire in fear of the dark.

What he found was not the mighty and glorious fortress of Bristledlenses he had heard of but a battlefield. Worthless trinkets and dwarves clothes were lying around everywhere. But no living soul was to be seen.

After climbing the last steep cliff towards the main entrance he encountered a fierce goblin, suddenly aware of his presence. Courageous Sitsu readies his sword and charges towards the bowman. Just a second before reaching his target the goblins lets loose an arrow which his our brave hero into his chest, piercing his lung, lodging into the wound. Mortally wounded he stumbles further on, blocking a second arrow and hacking his bronze sword into the monster's upper body, running it into the ground. With a second blow of the sword he hacks the thing apart, removing its torso from the rest of its hideous body.

Panting, barely getting any breath Sitsu notices another goblin moving into his direction. Knowing another confrontation would mean his immediate death he withdraws back down the mountain in search for a well hidden cave to recover at least a bit and tend his wounds.

As the sun rises over the mountains our hero leaves the safety of the cave and again approaches the main gate of Bristledlenses. Goblins seems to have overrun the place or at least are sieging it since there are no dwarven bodies around.

Before reaching the gate three further goblins storms at him but he takes them down within seconds. The main gate, it seems, has been sealed shut. Most likely the dwarves were trying to keep the goblins from getting in... or something else from getting out. After a thourough search of the vicinity Sitsu detects a tunnel which seems to lead deep into the fortress. Dwarves carvings along the wall suggest that this is a secret escape tunnel, ladden with deadly traps of which none seem to be armed anymore.

After emerging at the end of the tunnel he finds himself in the midst of the old dwarves quarters. Small holes with just enough place for four dwarves to stand aside each other. This was the first moment he wondered wether the rumors about the wealthy dwarves were accurate.

Through a staircase he reaches the upper quarters where he finds a goblin skeleton in one of the beds. A strange sight. What happened here? One of the carvings on the wall show a dwarf how he kills a goblin, which must have been two years ago. Only two meters apart is another carving which shows how a mortally wounded goblin gets laughed at by another dwarf. A strange kind of humour those short fellows have.

Since the quarters seem to be deserted he falls into one of the beds and is fast asleep, waking about eight hours later. Hours went by while he searched the top levels of the fortress, only discovering more skeletons and animal parts. No sign of treasures, artifacts or useable weapons.

It was when he stumbled into the large dining room that he noticed the foul stench that lingered in the air. A Forgotten Beast was sitting there, a scaly snail with thin wings a silver arrow stuck into its brown shell. Is this the monster that killed all those dwarves? It seems wounded, not moving, not showing any sign of aggression. With cautious steps the hero closed the distance, sword readied in his right hand. Uttering a short battle cry he jumps the last meter at the monster, hacking at it with full strength, kicking, biting, scratching... but it was not fighting back. It took a lot of strikes but finally he manages to remove both wings from the hideous body, which still didn't seem to worry at all. Then, out of nowhere, a sudden pain overcomes Sitsu. Somthing has hit him from behind into his hand. A silver arrow has struck him, rendering his hand useless. His sword fell to the floor, leaving him without arms. His attack at the defenseless creatures seems to have attracked more monsters.

Panicked he picks the sword up with his left hand, leaning at the wall next to him, panting. Where is the archer? Blinded by pain he moves along the wall, trying to figure out where the shot came from. Without any source of light it was hard to see anything in this huge room. Then he was hit by another arrow into his left upper leg, tearing a tendon. Another arrow hits his upper body, even tearing the nerves of his upper spine, making him drop his sword and shield as he falls to the floor.

There he lies, next to the archer, without any weapon, looking at this monster knowing that his time has come. More and more arrows puncture him, tearing organs, chipping bones while he tries to fight back from his prone position. Several arrows later the pain overcomes and blackness engulfs him.
