(If you haven't already read/heard about it, here's linkage:
2K Marin's page - - - Game Informer's announcement)

What are folks' thoughts? I'm willing to give it a try, but the original and sequel will be hard to beat.

Looks nothing like the original, really.

The interview they did with Rock Paper Shotgun (which I can't seem to find anymore, that site is tough to find things on) made it sound a lot more interesting than it seemed - I am having lots of fun with the original, but some of the concepts for the new one sound pretty interesting too... I'm planning on waiting for some reviews to show up before I buy it though.

If anyone call pull it off it would be 2K Games which have proved themselves through the Bioshock games to be masters of story telling in an FPS environment.

That being said, I was really disappointed when I found out the background would be back a few decades as I was really hoping for a 2015-2020 background like the first XCOM game did (slightly in the future in a secret war happening without civies ever knowing of it).
