What's the purpose of this glyph? You don't gain xp, it doesn't allow you to pass the monster and it doesn't help with piety gain. I just can't figure out what this is for.

Never figured a use for it. Unless it can be used on the boss - which I doubt. I only ever used it once, and that was a mistake, clicked on the wrong icon!

In addition to making certain gods happy, using it will contribute to your score at the end of the game; only important if you are trying to beat someone, but completely irrelevant to the main goal of defeating the boss.

Looks that way. If you don't find it early it forces you to leave other glyphs lie while you wander around, looking for your race bonus glyph.
