Hi,

I've found several bugs in the systems for adding Characters to games. These are as follows:

1. When you add a character to a game via the Add Character link on the game's page, you only have the option of adding a new character to the database rather than adding an appearance of an existing character. It might be nice to replace this with a search box with the option of adding a new character to the database.

2. Likewise, there is no clear way of adding an appearance of a character to the character's page, as the "Linked items" section has no apparent edit controls.

3. The character Ryu is listed as appearing in Street Fighter 4 but he does not appear in that game's character listing.

4. The character Ryu has an empty Category field in the database. Attempting to correct this to add a category presents a "Search for a category" box which never finds anything, no matter what is typed.

1. Yeah, sorry about that.

2. You have to add character versions to start linking to games. For example, see Mario. These individual versions can be added and then ammended (by "View"ing a particular version, you can submit a correction for the version to add a new game)

3. Unfortunately, this is a side effect of a change in the way characters were implemented in the Beta period. Adding a version to Ryu that links to the Street Fighter games will fix this problem.

4. The Category field there will be auto-populated as the various character-versions are added

Thanks!

One other question. It appears that under the current image regulations it is pretty much impossible for any character to have a Representative Image. Based on the image copyright rules the only image of a character that could be uploaded would be either a person's own drawing of the character or a cropped photograph of a non-digital image of the character - neither of which are likely to ever be representative in most situations. Is there any variation to the rules for these?

Couldn't an image cropped from a screenshot you've taken be submitted? We accept self-taken screenshots, so elements cropped from those shouldn't fall foul of image upload regulations.

When I submit a character to the database, I've been writing a description but when the character gets through mod, there is no description on the character page. Should I be going back and manually entering this description or should it be posting when the character is approved? Hawke is one of the characters that I've submitted that has no description even though I wrote one.

That's the version page. The character page is here:
http://videogamegeek.com/videogamecharacter/17451
(click the "Video Game Character - Hawke" link on your page to get to here)

It's kinda like the difference between a videogame page and the page for one of the releases.
