We just finished our first game and discovered as we went along that we made a few errors. Though one card we still can't quite figure out: the Road Planner bonus card.

It states that "you may interrupt your road building action with a construction action".

I don't see how this is advantageous, unless we're playing another rule wrong. The only possibility I see is that you can only build at the end of your networks? But in the rules is stated that you can build anywhere in your network.

Any help here?

Thanks!

During the road build phase, you're not allowed to build roads between two places that are both in unconquered regions.

With the road planner card, you can for example:
- Build one road during the road build phase from a place in a conquered region to a place in an unconquered region.
- Then conquer that region (construction phase)
- Then build your second road, to connect that region that you've just conquered, with a new unconquered region.

This is something which is usually not possible during the game, as like I said, you're not allowed to build roads between two places that are both in unconquered regions.

Hopefully you understand what I mean. An image would help me to explain this

Take a look at page 5 of the rules book, and then the image to the right, at the top of the page.

Let's say that you're the green player and you've just built that green road in the middle as the first road of the Road building phase. As usually during gameplay you're forced to place that second road immediately, you should place it somewhere else on the game board, as you're not allowed to built that second road between two places that are both in unconquered regions.

With the Road Planner card, you would be able to:
- first build that green road in the middle.
- then conquer a region; let's say the one with the '3' resistance
- then build that second green road (which now is marked with a red cross).

just watched drakkenstrike's video review to see if i could spot any other missed rules:

you can only play one sun card per "quadrant". is this correct?

am i the only one missing rule after rule in this game? i referred to the english, dutch and french set of rules included with the game, and each of them had different nuances. I've really not seen rules so horribly incomplete in years.

In a 4 player game:
The player who is the last in position on the score track first plays a card in a quadrant. The next player (who is in third position on the score track) then plays a card, but there are only 3 quadrants left to choose from.
Et cetera. So the last player who may play a card in a quadrant (the player who is first on the score track) has only 1 quadrant left "to chose from".
So after 1 Sun event phase, there are 4 cards played, one in each quadrant.

If there will follow a second Sun Event phase during this round, in each quadrant will be played a second card, exactly in the way as described above. See page 4 of the rules book:

Note: During one Sun Phase only one new card can be placed in each quadrant. This card is added to cards from a previous Sun Phase, if there are any. If the Sun Event deck is exhausted, shuffl e the discard pile and form a new draw pile.

So in fact, your quote should say:
you can only play one sun event card per "quadrant" PER SUN EVENT PHASE.

I've read both the dutch and english versions and never had any issues with the rules...
