Hi all,

If I play possession. Then play goons on my possessed turn do I gain the VPs? Or does the person whos cards they are gain them? In Isotropic the Goons card owner does, not me.. I would have thought a gained VP would be the same as the card??????

No, Isotropic has got it right.

The possession turn is an extra turn for the player on your left. The only exception is that you tell him/her which cards to play and any cards gained you get instead. The same is not true of VP chips so if the posessed player plays Goons they get to keep the VPs.

Be careful with Possession - it plays the same as a normal turn, but with exceptions for what happens when a card is gained, or a card is trashed. Everything else is normal. The "you" on the card text is the card owner otherwise.

That means that if something other than a card is gained (VP chip, Pirate coin, etc) it goes to the owner of the card. If something happens to a card other than being Trashed, it legitimately happens to that card (for example, permanently burying a powerful action on an Island, returning it to the Supply with an Ambassador, passing it with Masquerade etc.) And of course, anything that may mix around the cards in your deck or in play still happens (Duration cards that were out from last turn get used and discarded at the end of the possessed turn, you choose NOT to put Alchemists back on top of the deck, etc.)

Most of these cases are things to avoid if Possession is in play - no one should buy Ambassador, for example. But, as you found, there are strategies like VP chips that work very well for you if Possession is out there, because they'll benefit you even if you're possessed.
