So the cord of my mouse keeps dropping back behind my desk, and then catches on other cords so that I can't move it freely and have to continually pull it back up.
Are there any downsides I should consider before duct taping it so I have more cord higher to utilize where I need it?
Any other solutions (beyond buying new mouse).

I am familiar with the problem you have, and as far as I am aware there is no reason why you shouldn't tape down the mouse cable.

A paperweight works well as a "mouse cord holder".

I love the twisty tie idea! No sticky residue, no risk of pulling off varnish, and very small footprint.
Rudy, you are an invaluable resource. Thanks a billion.
