Hello everyone!

Here is my 17th video : Intrigo! Intrigo © is a boardgame published by Hazgaard. Intrigo is a game for 3 to 4 players, with a mecanical perfection when you play with 4. It is amazing how such a tiny box with a few cards and a few chips can bring such an heavy and agressive atmosphere! Be reassured, you won't loose any friend after a game, but stay aware: Intrigo puts everyone's backs up. That's exactly what you call a game of blow below the belt and nasty tricks, where everyone pushes and shoves and pecks at everyone to open the way to victory! A very clever game that even earned the great prize of Boulogne, and so I recommend to you Intrigo!

With this 17th video, I remind you Hem is on Facebook : click me.

In this video, I made a very sober editing, I wanted to show that the game is very easy to grasp, but full of possibilities. My editing has almost no special effect, I hope you won't be disappointed! For the music, I first thought of some italian baroque, even some mundane stuff we already know like Vivaldi, but I wasn"t satisfied so I took one of the greatest pieces that exists since 400 years of english music, even in this ultramodern and kitsch interpretation from an ufo-like singer. The title of the song even fits the game because of this idea of "cold war" I mentioned above.

That's it! Congratulations to diez who found out for Intrigo, he or she won 1 point! Yet 3 winners so far in Hem's game! You too can play!

See you soon for the next video! Will you find what game it will be about? Hint: this game rides across Europe and begins with a M!

Bye!

Hem

Thanks for the review. It sounds a bit like Ruse and Bruise. Does anyone know how they differ?

Thanks Tom!
I don't know at all about Ruse & Bruise, so I hope someone who knows will come to answer to you.
I quickly read about it to try to answer to you, and it does seem much more about calculating than Intrigo, plus the game seems to be set in columns of cards, whereas Intrigo is set in a square of cards. And, I did not mention some important rules in this video, like the mechanic of drafting which is used at the beginning of the game so that everyone sets up his hand card by card, giving what he discards to the next player, or how to gain the Sceals - which is done by putting a family card higher than the one next to it. Hope that helps!

Thanks for your prompt reply...

AEG makes great looking games, but often they are not great to play. I had picked this up several times thinking it sounded interesting. What did you think of game play overall? Is there a bunch of back and forth, pulling up each other's cards? Is the game a good purchase?

Hey Tom,
I don't know anymore if you're talking about Intrigo or the game you mentioned in your early post! If you talk about Intrigo, I will answer to your 3 questions :
- Overall I think it is a good game. For 15 bucks and a tiny box you got a 4 players game that lasts one hour and half, that will bring many laughs to the tables but many yells and complaints too! It really is a game of meanies. And it is really clever, you have to play with a lot of tactic. A good game
- No back & forth at all, be reassured : since everyone only has 4 cards in hand, you draft only 4 cards, and only at the beginning of every inning, so it lasts what, 20 seconds each time? it is completely minor, believe me.
- The game is a good purchase in my opinion. I sometimes spent 60 bucks for an okay game. Here is only 15$ for a good tiny game that just works.
Bye!
