The Starfire game system was one of the original games prodcued by Task Force Games.
Starfire Design Studio was created by Marvin Lamb and other dedicated Starfire players interested in keeping the then current edition of Starfire (3rd Edition) alive. In 1997 Task Force Games sold the Starfire game system to the Starfire Design Studio before it stopped publishing games.
Starfire Design Studio produced electronic expansions and updates for Starfire (3rd Edition), and then released a "4th Edition" of Starfire: Galactic Starfire. A "5th Edition" of Starfire was also prodcued in electronic format called Ultra Starfire.
In February 2012, the SDS released the sixth edition, Solar Starfire, and has a new team of developers working on the new rules, new materials, and a brand new background history.
