Digital Equipment Corporation (DEC) was created in 1957. DEC produced the PDP (Programmable Data Processor) and VAX series of computers. It was bought by Compaq in 1998, which was bought by HP in 2002.

Incidental to its main business of selling computers, it produced demonstration programs, such as the game Hamurabi.
