Welcome to Video Game Geek!
Video Game Geek is the new subdomain of Geekdō that specializes in videogames of every type.
Following on from the phenomenal success of BoardGameGeek (founded in 2000), and RPGGeek (added in 2009), the gaming experience is extended even further now in 2010 with the addition of Video Game Geek. With a user able to join a community with such a broad spectrum of gaming possibilities, Geekdō is truly the place for gamers to congregate.
Geek-What?
All three sites are joined under the umbrella site Geekdō (pronounced "Geek-Doh" - see below for the meaning of the name) which will continue to expand in the future to cover other hobby areas. Each expansion of Geekdō is intended to be hidden enough from the other hobby domains as to be virtually invisible if you only care to delve into a particular hobby. But for those of us who like to cross over our geekiness into other realms - this will be a nice one-stop place to get our fix! Because the developers of Geekdō have worked hard to create commonality and shared code between the various hobby domains, it means that improvements to one site will often be reflected across the other hobby domains. In layman's terms: the site will get better and better for all of us!
We hope that you find Video Game Geek to be a welcome place to discuss and discover the amazing world of Video Games.
The Geekdō Kanji
Many people wonder about these strange symbols that show repeatedly in people's avatars, badges and are scattered around the site. These symbols are Chinese characters – also known in the West as kanji, from the Japanese name for them. The main kanji used for Geekdō is the Chinese character for "dō" meaning "the way." Geekdō, quite simply, The Way of the Geek.
