American Games

Malloy, Alex G. American Games: Comprehensive Collector's Guide. Iola, Wisconsin: Krause Publications, 2000.

This entry is for games listed in this guide that are not listed in the database. The "links-to" link should refer back to games entered in the database from this guide that need further elaboration to bring them up to general BGG content standards.

This game guide is a published effort which attempts to serve as a catalog and price-guide for American-produced games. Though listed as comprehensive, a cursory comparison with BGG shows that a number of games from publishers are omitted or are entered with incomplete information (e.g. The entry for 3M omits three of the gamettes, only mentions one of the butter-box games, and refers to a game called "The Choir" which is probably mis-reference to Acquire). Despite it's un-authoritative status, it does include game listings for games and publishers which are not yet in the database. Games entered from this volume should be compared to BGG entries to avoid unnecessary duplication.

This guide draws on a number of secondary sources, which are likely the cause of ambiguities and errors in the listings.

In contrast to BGG, the focus of the book is on recognizing different game product packages. Therefore, different versions of the same game are listed under different publishers -- notably, the games published by both 3M and Avalon Hill are listed for each publisher.
