Eclipse Rules Questions

This is an attempt at compiling rules questions and clarifications in a broader manner than a FAQ. Hopefully this is easier to search than the 70+ pages of forum posts, and cuts down on repetitive questions.

Notice: Draft Page

This is not really ready for consumption yet; once it is, it will get linked from the description wiki. If you feel it is ready, feel free to remove this section and link it yourself!

Ship Construction

Destroying/Removing/Decommissioning Your Own Ships

Once you build a ship/starbase, you cannot voluntarily remove it from the board -- it must be destroyed in combat. (Source: http://www.boardgamegeek.com/article/8258867#8258867)

Combat

Allocating Damage

Allocating damage in combat and attacking population use different rules for damage allocation.

In combat, each weapon's damage must be assigned to a single ship.

  • Rules, page 19, Combat, second paragraph: "Damage from one die (eg. Plasma or Antimatter Cannon) may not be split to several targets."*

Attacking Population

Allocating damage in combat and attacking population use different rules for damage allocation.

When attacking population, each point of damage can be applied separately.

  • Rules, page 20, Attacking Population, first paragraph: "Each point of damage destroys one Population Cube of your choosing."
