Nexus J

Overview

Nexus J is a service from Quicksilver Software for playing popular on-line games (with a focus on Eurogames) against other players in real time.

Nexus J is currently in the public beta stage of development, and is open to everyone. Nexus J runs on both the Windows and Macintosh platforms via a stand-alone client application; users are able to create their own accounts from within the client application itself.

More information is available in the following discussion thread: Nexus J online gaming service: Beta signup.

Features

Nexus J has been designed from the ground up to be as fun and easy to use as possible. Features currently include:

  • Beginner Guidance - The system is able to able to warn players if they appear to have misclicked while playing or otherwise made a move that's strongly suboptimal.
  • Leaderboard Rankings – Comprehensive play statistics let players know how they rank against their friends at any given moment. Statistics can be sorted and filtered by specific game type, specific number of players, or both.
  • Live Chat – Players may chat freely with their opponents while playing a game or while hanging out in the Lobby. An interactive chat log allows players to review chat messages or even gameplay actions that they may have missed.
  • Spectator Mode - Users can drop in to watch games in progress and chat with the players.
  • Automatic Updates – The client application is able to detect whenever new features are added to the service and automatically update itself.
