One Degree of Separation X
The GeekList called "One Degree of Separation X: The Tenth Song Name Game for GeekGold! (Ended)" is a contest GeekList that challenges users to add an entry to the list related to a song which links to the previous entry by a word in the song title or artist name. (See the list for complete rules).
The first few One Degree of Separation GeekLists used a single Wiki page to list all of the songs used so far in that GeekList so that duplicate entries could be avoided. As the GeekLists got longer, the Wiki pages got too long for the Wiki to handle, so we split them up into multiple pages. The Wiki pages for the current GeekList are linked below. They are sorted library-style by artist name and then by song title, with the GeekList entry number also included.
One Degree of Separation X - Part 1 (A-E)
One Degree of Separation X - Part 2 (F-I)
One Degree of Separation X - Part 3 (J-R)
One Degree of Separation X - Part 4 (S-Z)
To add your song to the wiki:
1 Follow one of the links above.
2 Near the top of the page there's an Edit link - use it.
3 Note that each song consists of four lines - artist, title, number and a line/spacer (-). Each line starts with a | so that the wiki knows it's a table.
4 Scroll down until you're at the right place alphabetically for your artist.
5 Add your entry in the same format as the others. I find it's easiest to copy the four lines above and paste them in, then change the words. On most systems, Copy and Paste are in the right mouse click menu, and Ctrl-C / Ctrl-V work as well.
6 Hit the Preview button (which is underneath the edit pane) to make sure the entry you added looks correct.
7 Now hit the Save button (also underneath the edit pane).
Done!
Note after saving if the page doesn't go back to the wiki table with your entry in it (ie if it goes to a blank page or an "Internet Explorer cannot display the webpage" page), then you've probably encountered an issue a few of us have when the wiki gets long. Try a second time, and if it still doesn't work then add a comment on your entry on the main ODS list page, then hopefully some kind person who can still edit the wiki will add it for you.
