RSP (Religion, Sex and Politics) is the boardgamegeek.com dumping ground for all contentious discussions that do not belong in other areas. The community that has grown around RSP is remarkably civil and thoughtful for such an Internet forum. Book recommendations have been made from time to time in RSP. The desire has also been expressed to be able to gain insight into the thoughts and backgrounds of other RSP participants. A Confederacy Of Dunces | This may be my favorite book. It has politics and sex. And um, I think the main character adheres to a heretic religion. Something about "Fortuna", IIRC. I ain't making a thread for it. :-P
