SFB Commander Edition

The third version of the Star Fleet Battles series represented a complete overhaul from the previous versions. The main set came in a conventional 8 1/2"x11" bookcase box, and combined the Designer’s Edition with Expansion #1.

Part of the Star Fleet Universe.

Boxed Sets

Star Fleet Battles Commander's Edition (1983)
This was later renamed Star Fleet Battles Volume I.
Star Fleet Battles Volume II (1984)
Included elements of Expansion #2 and #3
Star Fleet Battles Volume III (1985)

Commander's SSD Books

One of the innovations of the Commander's Edition was the Commander's SSD. These turned SSDs from a basic half-page diagram of the ship's systems, to a full page that contained much of the extra information about a ship needed during play, such as weapons charts, crew information, BPV values, etc. These weren't in the first few Commander's products, so a series of books was started to reprint the ships in the new format, and present all new ones.

Reinforcement Packs

The Commander's Editon Reinforcements included extra counters and cut-out large planets for use on the regular 30 x 42 hex map.

Other Expansions

Other Commander's Editon Expansions included Rule Updates that were made to replace sections of the rulebook, and a stand alone Indtroduction module for new players.
