And there was also this for $6. Looked to be in great shape. Took it home and started inventorying, realized very quickly that there were a lot more cards then there should have been for the base game, so after some research here on the geek I realized the game also included... [expansions listed]
Any way Runebound plus 4.5 expansions for $6!
Judge's Comments
Wow, what a week. The week of the major hauls, the first-time finds, and more endless bleating for various versions of ingenious from the King.
The first was chansen2794's Axis and Allies haul, which was pretty amazing. This was followed by a Blokus haul, and then we had the first timer finds of Titan,Dune, and Ticket To Ride! But, as this week's winner had one box, which actually contained a game and mucho expansions stuffed inside, zackdale bests all comers to win this week.

Checked the same thrift store that, until last week's Mystery of the Abbey find, had nothing but junk every time I check today. I think I'll keep checking there regularly now =D
Found this in shrink (first shrink-wrapped find for me =) for $2.69!
Judge's Comments
An interesting week. Multiple Bermuda Triangles, Booby-Traps up the wazoo, ugh, don't like the sound of that, Dungeon Twister, Samurai, Gunslinger, Blokus, and some other very nice solid finds. But in the end it came down to a newuser finding and making his first post with a Sellers of Catan, or the first ever posting of a game to a thrift list in this week's winner. Twinge takes home the statue.

[RoboRally and] this....both for $1.99 each. RoboRally was 1st ed. with pewter pieces. then Shawn swore and kicked me, told me to walk home, it wasn't very polite.
Judge's Comments
A tough week for the judges. Tons of Acquires, in all shapes, sizes and languages, multiple Survive! finds, a nice new AH Diplomacy, Bermuda Triangles, a Fireball Island, and an unplayed Daytona 500. Cancelling Formula De's and an Evo find. In the end, it came down to this OOP Robo-rally expansion, or Erik's find of Chinatown. Prior to discussions of a Chinatown reprint, I'd think it would have won hands down, but Seth edges out Erik for the win!

My wife picked this up for AU$1.00 at a garage sale. Original Shogun version.

"Jack" accused of game abuse! Shocking revelations and photos of "Jack" torturing a huge pile of games. A huge haul by teabo, a nice Junta find, SWED and Moods, a nice Zertz, another Niagra, and an Advanced Heroquest. But Ozvortex takes home the hardware for the first find on the list this week, an origianl Shogun for an Australian dollar!

My wife and I are celebrating our one-year anniversary today, and so we planned a weekend trip up to Flagstaff, leaving on Friday morning. My gaming buddy's parents have a cabin up there that they were going to let us use. Long story short: They gave us the wrong key for the cabin, but were nice enough to bring it up on Saturday morning.
So, we stayed at a hotel in Flagstaff proper on Friday evening. While driving up there, my wife was looking around on the main drag off of I-17, and said, "Hey, I think that's a Bookman's!" (You may know my affinity for "thrifting" at Bookman's.) We resolved to visit it the next day, if indeed that's what it was.
Saturday was wonderful--we drove down Lake Mary Road for miles and miles, roughly twice as far as I'd intended, then down a dirt road where we saw a whole family of elk. But I digress... After getting settled in at the cabin, and sitting around for a while, dinnertime came. We drove back up to Flagstaff with our husky Laika (my avatar), knowing that Bookman's allows dogs on leashes and that Laika would have a good time.
We got up there and I remarked that I felt odd about bringing a dog into a bookstore, but nevertheless, she was enjoying herself. We circled around and found the games section, but I couldn't approach with Laika because of all the kids. (She's nowhere near a mean dog--she'd sooner lick you to death than attack--but with all those kids, she'd get too hyper.) So, my wife took Laika for a stroll while I perused the games.
A few shelves' worth, far less than the Phoenix or Mesa stores, but a fun to look through. Hey!--there's the Lord of the Rings DVD trivia game; a requisite it seems. Same for Trump.
But oh, what's this? Battle Cry! I couldn't believe my luck. Reality stuck its nose into things when I realized that Bookman's has a habit of pricing things strangely; I half expected to see $50 tattooed to the box.
But thankfully, the thrift gods were good to me, and handed me Battle Cry for just $15.
I inventoried it when I returned to the cabin, and it's in overall fantastic shape. It's missing one die, and 4 or 5 units on each side (tops--it might be less), as well as one cardboard flag. The die and the flag aren't a big deal, but if anyone has replacements for any parts please let me know--in fact, if someone can get me all the bits I need, I'll send you as much GeekGold as I can muster (and pay the shipping if you ask!).
This was a fantastic weekend celebrating my one-year anniversary with my wonderful wife (who played Rumis, 10 Days in Europe, and Dracula with me while we were up there...incredible!), and it was made that much more exciting with this fantastic find.

Quite a week this one was for the thrifters. Duplicate Fortress Americas, Cashflow for Kids, and a great Settlers haul from fellow Seattlite beezwax. Other notable finds included Aladdin's Dragons, Survive!, the King's find of an incomplete Rail Baron, a busted Dark Tower, and quite a few "nostalgia games" like Carrier Strike, Bermuda Triangle, and King Oil. But this week's statue goes to carl67lp for his anniversary find of Battle Cry.

Finder's Comments
Really. The second HiG-edition for five players. The one before the Valley games reprint. Box a bit bend, something heavy must have been on top. Lets open it. Looks good. Rules, 4 parliament boards, the two sideboards, the two special dice, wooden stuff and cards flying around a bit freely. Score sheet still there. Looks like the fellows just tried a single game with one round. So cards look good. And the reply card to Hans im Glueck is still in, so hopefully will be the other items.
How much is it, sir? You said 2.00 Euro? Na, no need to give me a painful look. I do not intend to negotiate, here you go. Thank you very much.
Edit: and now I had the time to check: all complete, not a single piece (a few hundred in total) is missing.

It's the week of Regatta! Summer's over so it's time to dump those old sailing games or something...
Quite a week, with some really nice finds. A House Divided, a big 'ol box of Netrunner starters, Carc the Castle, multiple Hoity Toitys, Survive, Republic of Rome, and a huge haul including Titan from Amy. A german Starfarers, Betrayal at House on the Hill just in time for Haloween, and a Tumblin Dice and it's little brother to end up the list. But Erik takes home the gold for his find of Die Macher 2nd Edition. Cubemato? NEIN!

German edition of Niagara (in very good condition): 3.50 EUR
I almost didn't buy it as I had already bought so many games today, but I've always kinda wanted to have and in the end I caved in...
Judge's Comments
An interesting week I think. Lots of finds that truly stink. There was even a find about that ship that did sink...
Enough of that. So it was the week of Samurai Swords, with at least three being found. Double Cashflows, Torres, and Bloki. A fine find of Dampfross, a Puerto Rico, a Supremacy, and some freaky Mormon games. My choice of Up Front was outvoted by the other judges, who, in the end, gave the statue to bluestarfish, for her find of Niagara.

Yes! We the People for $2.99. Only missing one hex piece. The box was a little beat up but other than that it is in real good shape. I have heard so much about this game and how people look for it a lot. I so much wanted this! I was very happy. If only my dad the American history teacher was alive then I could play it with him. I hope to play it with my son who is just like his grandfather. It was a good day.

Another 11 page week, but this week, it was all over on page 1. Say what you will Primordial Soup lovers, but, um...no. Just because the King doesn't like wargames, he doesn't realize that WtP is far more Euro than War. And no way is that excrement-eating Primordial Soup going to win over this, (check out my top 10 for confirmation as to why). Other notable finds included Fire, Survive!, Ingenious, Dvonn, Pursuit, (cause this judge loves the cool old games of yesteryear), History of the World, and another Battle Cry. But Bigspoon816 takes the statue going away.

2.00 ... unpunched!
Judge's Comments
What a week! 11 pages of finds, and some really tough decisions from the voters. Diplomacies, Acquires, and Ploys popping up all over the list, as well as Contigo! Angel in the Attic was leading through most of the voting, but fell behind in one of the numerous recounts that had to be done. TtR and Battle Cry were strong contenders, as were Deflexion, Big City, Puerto Rico, and Advanced Heroquest. I was a bit surprised to see the Official Dealer McDope Dealing Game didn't get more support, as it is pretty darn rare, and worth a pretty penny. But this weeks winner has to be electricvomit, (in spite of the username), for his find of an unpunched EiA. This is like worth serious cash. Or you could give it to him for his find of not one, but two, Rail Barons...

Huge bargain here for only $3.50 --- It was new in shrink :surprise: How in the heck did this find it's way to a thrift store?!?!
Judge's Comments
A very odd, week, but pretty easy for the judges. Sooo many cancelling finds. El Grande, Scrutineyes, Wildlife Adventure, ... Bizarre. Lots of notable finds including Tikal and Torres, a couple of the old GW minis games, a nice Carc find, a Dark Tower, (which interestingly enough the judges were NOT impressed with, how the mighty have fallen), an Eon CE, a Star Wars Epic Duels, and an AH Acquire. But the jaded judges saw fit to award this week's statue to r0xjo0 for his find of an in-shrink Tumblin-Dice.
