candidate for splitting
DO NOT DO THIS -- IGNORE WHAT THIS ARTICLE SAYS
I manage most of the corrections and game submissions, and using this method to track what games should be split is inefficient and ineffective. The easiest way to get a game considered for split is to use the Submit Corrections button in the game entry. In the form, use the message to admin box to explain why the game should be split into multiple entries. Splits under the current system are very time consuming, so most that come through the queue are being noted to be taken care of in the future when time, manpower, or programming will make it easier to manage. - Skelebone
The below is kept only for historical purposes, do not use this method to mark up games for merger.

Occasionally, one game gets added to another as an "AKA" even though they are different games. In that case, the games need to be split by the admins. If you identify games that may need to be split, edit their descriptions and add text to the effect of "The games X and Y are not sufficiently similar to be considered the same game and are a candidate for splitting." By checking the backlinks (via the "What Links Here" link in the lower right), we can see candidates.
What constitues the "same game"
Of course, the database has some similar games with different entries which are chosen not to be merged, and some slightly different games that are chosen not to be split. The general rule, though not a strict policy, is that if the gameplay is identical or nearly so, and the components are identical or nearly so, then it is the "same game".
See the Same Game Policy.
The Monopoly Exception
There is an exception for the dozens of differently themed but mechanically identical editions of Monopoly.
