hide post

When you click Hide you are doing one of two things:

If you select as the reason "rules violation," you are saying that the given post or thread should be less accessible to users because it violates the forum rules. If enough other users also click the hide button, the post will then be collapsed to one line by default, and users will have to click on it to view it. Hidden threads will not appear on the front page of the site, but will still be accessible through the forums.

If you click hide and select "personal" as the reason, you are saying that you don't want to see that post, but that it does not violate the site rules; this second sort of hide will not count as a vote to hide the post from others.

This system is entirely automated; clicking on the hide button does not notify a moderator, unless you report a thread as being in the wrong folder. To report a thread as being in the wrong folder, click the red x at the top of the thread.
