Despite development apparently halting in 2005, this appears to be the only computerised version of "Primordial Soup" / "Ursuppe". (As of Jan 1, 2011)

Can be played with 1-2 human players and AI players filling in the rest. Can be played with 3-6 players.

Very basic graphics, but neat to have the amoeba bounce around inside their squares on occasion, and movements described in happy or sad terms.
All the amoeba are named too, not numbered. Odd, but hardly a problem.

Since the AI opponents just tell you what they've done, the game is very fast and takes a tiny fraction of the real game. This is a major drawcard

Bugs

I don't think the "Escape" gene works properly. I had Escape + Speed and whenever attacked by "struggle for surivial", was asked if I wanted to pay to escape, and when agreed, it would just say "Escape failed" and I'd be eaten. (Even if my first attempt to move randomly failed to shift me, I should get asked if I want to move again)

It's also a bit hard to tell when the game is going to end.

The Holding gene seems to work for the AI players, but when I had it, would ask me if I wanted to hitch a ride with a moving amoeba, but after chosing who was to hitch, it appeared that neither player's amoebas moved at all. Also I believe I saw some other amoebas moving away without giving the option to hitch a ride. Also the picker for "which amoeba wants to hitchhike" is defective - only lets you chose other player's amoeba, and this appears to create other amoeba for you!!

Holding gene doesn't give you the ability to stay in the same square.
